For those interested, yet another long press release from Wakey on the superleague website (very lazy as well, it seems they've just copied the words verbatim). Basically its a whole lot more yadayada with nothing at all concrete in it except to have a dig at Cas for not wanting to share Wakey's proposed new ground whilst saying that Wakey have no interest in sharing at Cas' preferred site - i.e. both clubs are being kn*bs.

Or maybe they realise that the pressure to groundshare is a trojan horse by the RFL to force the two clubs to merge before 2012, so Widnes can be let in for free with no club relegated? And so both realise they are fighting to retain their separate identity?

Nice stadium, wealthy backer, both clubs with around 6,000 fans at present. Perhaps it's time to think the unthinkable.

Easy: jsut do what they are currently doing, and make it pretty clear one or maybe both of them are for the drop as things stand. They DID say "at least" one club would drop and be promoted.

And as for mergers, the most logical one is you lot with whatever the Tykes are called now, so you can concentrate on Union rather than have to split resources across two codes? Let Cas take your place then.

That would be a good move for the RFU but not one I would be inclined to support. There's room for both when you're able to turnover £11 million plus and remain a permanent member of the play-off elite.
