| Quote: calverley rhino "IF we were close to the cap i would think the club will / would look at de registering Kalum as he is out for the season. personnally i would give Coady and Amor a go and see how they go. Deffo bring back Jones Bishop.'"
Yes it would be great to give Amor a shot, but he is not a back, he is a forward. Our problems are in the backs. The last thing you want to do if you have an inexperienced backline, is start gambling in the forwards also.
Same with Coady. If Delaney or Senior are out, then yes now Watikins is not there. But Coady is a centre not a winger. We have established wingers in our academy.

| That de-registering suggestion regarding the salary cap - how does the kid get paid then? Just from insurance, or what?

i pressume they de register as a player so the salary does not count but he gets paid still. like a normal club employee ( shop staff etc ) or they tell him to get f'd and he has to go to the dss

| Ok, IA to the rescue!
The Salary cap is based on two principals; of a first tier of 25 players and a second tier of players.
[iA Club’s “First Tier Players” are the 25 Players registered with the Club and eligible to play in the Super League who have the highest Salary Cap Values at the time in question, whether or not they have played for the Club in a Salary Cap Relevant Match in the Salary Cap Year to that date.
A Club must ensure that its Aggregate First Tier Liability does not exceed £1,600,000 (One Million Six Hundred Thousand Pounds) at any time during the Salary Cap Year.
A Club’s “Aggregate First Tier Liability” is calculated by adding together the respective Salary Cap Values of the Club’s First Tier Players at the given time in question.[/i
Ok, that clear... yes? Just note it is the 25 players who have the largest salary cap liability, and not necessarily the initial 25 first team squad... BUT I suspect that in nearly all cases, this would be the case.
[iA Club must ensure that its Aggregate Second Tier Liability does not exceed £50,000 (Fifty Thousand Pounds) at any time during the Salary Cap Year.
A Club’s “Aggregate Second Tier Liability” at any given time during the Salary Cap Year is calculated by adding together the Salary Cap Values of the Club’s Second Tier Players at the time in question.
A Club’s “Second Tier Players” are those Players who have represented the Club in a Salary Cap Relevant Match during the Salary Cap Year but do not have one of the Club’s 25 highest Salary Cap Values at the time in question. [/i
Ok, this means that BJB does not yet count on the cap but it would be possible for them to have room in the second tier to pay him if he came back and appeared for us. Also, note that they may be able to reduce Kallum's salary cap value as he may have a clause written into his contract about reducing his salary if he is not playing! This means that he may move outside of the top 25 salary cap liability, leaving room to put BJB in.
Either way it is quite complex and I have no idea about how close Leeds are to their first and second tier salary cap liabilities.
The only way a players salary liability can be reduced by insurance BTW is if they are injured in an RFL sanctioned representative game. So if a players get injured playing for England, the club can still pay the player via an insurance policy and deduct that from the cap. This seems only fair because clubs would be reluctant to release players if they felt they could not be replaced after playing for another team, so to speak, and getting injured. No such rule exists for injuries while playing for the club in terms of salary cap liability but not quite sure if Kallum can take his own policy out, so if the club do reduce his salary, he can claim the difference?

Some good information.
I think the original poster was referring to deregistering a long term injured player from the 20-20 which happened a fair amount when such a thing existed

| So what's the options we have then guys? A recall for BJB? a dip into the loan/transfer market (cap permitting)?? Personally i'd look most definately at BJB coming back.

| If Hall is out aswell this week, which we will find out within the next few hours, could it see a first chance for Chisholm on the wing?

| Quote: Gotcha " amor has probably spent more time in the centre in rugby league than coady, like I said we would have to be pretty desprate for amor to play in the backs but going with academy kids infront of someone with superior physical ability like coady which is on another level to chisolm and bush seems a much better option defensively to me. peter fox and jake Webster running at coady is much prefered for me than them running at our kids. If we had won our first 6 games then I would be happy Leeds throughing caution to the wind, talk of a playing crisis is utter tosh but let's face it it's defo backs to the wall! I don't care how we win as long as we do. a big strong back line is what's needed for me. not kids who look pysically undeveloped at this stage.

| Its a similar vein to what G was saying, along the lines of him learning more at fullback for the quins than a few games on the wing at Leeds and then back in to the reserves.
Which is correct.

A dip in the transfer market then perhaps?
