Andy it comes back to the point I made earlier we have stagnated and the gap between ourselves and other sides has narrowed - if we want to extend that gap again we have to fundamentally change the way we play.
Sinfield maybe a great passer but he is a very slow decision-maker and when he has options he is too slow to make the decision - that is why he is much better IMO when the options are reduced

Nope. He makes good points at times, and not afraid to put his head on the block.
But he has always had this weird thing about Sinfield. He can't see that the guy is aguably the most important player this club has ever had. And will go down in history as one of the legends.

We must agree to differ regarding Saints/Long - it is no coincidence that Potter has arrived seen whats there and Long is now surplus to requirements - teams have to evolve and if Potter wants to play a certain way then perhaps that is not possible with Long's playing style?
Manchester United have been constantly changing the way they play - Ferguson doesn't just get rid of big name players - he brings them in too - the biggest changes to that side has been the defence - how many big names has he got rid of recently to change that!!!! - none.
Sinfield's kicking game - that's a joke Leeds don't have a kicking game - did you go to the game last night? Tackling - like to look at his tackling stats re-missed tackle % this year - he will be pretty close to the top.
OK how would you progress the team and its style of play?

I disagree.
McGuire is much better at 1st receiver as last night shows. He is sill the most dangerous person on the field with ball in hand and the more he gets it the more he dictates how the game wll be played. I would have Burrow running off McGuire as he is good at splitting teams but is he a great organiser?
Anyway I have brought this point up before and raised it last night in my 3-2-1 thread. Also I see McGuire as a clone of Marshall. Thier games are so similar its uncanny. Anyway he has been moved to 7 at Wests this year and is playing the best stuff of his career so far. Thats because he is 1st reciever and gets to do things how he wants to and IMO thats how it should be for Danny.

That forward pass, from memory, was when Sinfield had to reach forward and juggle with the ball before securing posession. It happened right in front of us, and was a wrong call from Terry. I can totally understand why it was given, when a team plays flat and you see someone having to reach forward it gives the impression of a forward pass, but to my eyes he got the call wrong.

You must be stood near me then LP. Bang on halfway inbetween the 1st barrier and the wall?
Either way I watched it back on Sky and it went forward. You could also tell by Buderus' reaction that it was forward because he wasnt happy with himself.

Disa, I think he is overrated - much stems from his junior days when he was well over-hyped - his lack of impact at international level should not be overlooked by those fawning at his feet.
But the same can be said of you and many on here regarding McGuire - his impact in many games is crucial but gets overlooked by many who see no value in him. For me he is the X factor in the Leeds side and has proved it consistently when it matters.

Ironically, moving him to first receiver would force him to do two things he doesn't do well - that's make decisions on the fly and organise those around him.
He needs to be at second receiver in the same way that Pryce does. When McGuire goes to first man he has a tendency to want to look for gaps himself too often, much the same as Dunnemann used to get crucified for doing.
Get him running onto a ball in front of him at pace and against an adjusting defence wider of the ruck and he can be a lot more effective.

That is a very good point regarding Marshall/McGuire.

Just behind there, in front of the second barrier. If (sorry, when) you hear the old guy shouting "Bloody Rubbish" then we're in front of him.

I think you are wrong on the overrated big style. Most under rated player in super league IMO. And as a junior he derserved all the hype, and as lived up to it in his pro career. How many other captains have 3 championship winners medals? Has there every been another Leeds Captain before with that.
I think you have me wrong on the McGuire issue too. I am a big fan of McGuire. I am not a big fan of the McGuire Burrow partnership, and never have been.

It was the touch judge, not Alibert who gave it.

I know what you mean but you are basing his decision making skills on him playing at 6 where naturally he hass less time on the ball because it has already gone through 2 pairs of hands and the defence has moved up.
Last night his decision making was superb. He periodically ran the ball in himself making half a gap and even though this didnt lead to any breaks it served a purpose because every time he got the ball the Hull players didnt have a clue what was going to happen and this led to a few tries and a disalowed 1.
Last night McGuire played the best footy in a few years IMO. He never took the ball stood still and never just caught and passed. He took the line on every time in an attacking position and passed deep. How many holes did this create? It was quite superb and Leeds last night were very well structured.
As I say IMO McGuire is a 7 and last night proved that with a few more seconds on the ball without the defence in your face he knows what to do.

You've talked sh[size.[/sizeit on here in the past, granted, but that is embarrassing.
362 tackles with 15 misses this season. 710 tackles with 28 misses last season. In the top 10 tacklers last season, on the cusp of the top 25 this season. Considering he defends in the middle of the park and goes in low and hard more often than not, I'd love to see you tell me which part of his defence is poor.
