RIP to the young lad, thoughts for family, friends and close ones. It brought a chill to my bone, so I can't begin to understand what they are going through at all.

Sad day.

My daughter asked me last year if anyone had died playing the game. The only one (professional) that sprung to mind was Chris Sanderson - playing for Leeds at Salford in May 1977 - the week before we played Widnes in the Wembley Final. I cant recall any since Chris Sanderson.

I am old enough to remember that vividly and the tears that followed when the news broke. There was a lump in my throat last night when I heard about Leon on the nine o'clock news.

I stopped at the services on the M6 last night and there were three Wakey fans sat there - still stunned - no words were needed - their grief is shared by all in the "family"

My sincere condolences to Leon's family, his team mates and the Wakefield club in yet another dark day in their history. To lose one player was tragic but two is - uncomprehensable. Not forgetting the loss of former players in recent months Don Fox, Ken Hurst and David Topliss - as I said very sad times at Wakey. You really wouldnt wish this on anyone.

It has been over 30 years since someone died on the field of play - a truly horrowing accident.

One can only imagine what his family are going through today.

its a stark reminder of how brave all the lads are that pull on a shirt and how tough the sport is.

I was stunned when I heard the news, but I've since found out that Leon was the same age as my cousin, and attended the same high school. That really hit home as to how young he was.

I've tried my best to live by 'Everything happens for a reason' motto, but i'm finding it really hard to understand what the reason is behind this. He was a year younger than me and was playing the game he loves and it's really hit hard.

RIP Leon and thoughts for his family and friends at what is sure to be the most difficult of times.

Wait until you're a bit older and you'll perhaps come to realise that sometimes there are no reasons or reasoning behind a personal tragedy, as I learnt all too readily for myself last November.

Unlike most of you I actually know how the parents will be feeling right now and I wish them all the best in dealing with their unbelievable grief.

RIP Leon,such a shock to hear news like this.We can all squabble about things in life from time to time whether its a moan about sport or pointless arguments with friends or family.Makes you appreciate everyone around you even more, never take anyone for granted.

there is to be a minutes silence for all superleague games next week. Lets hope everyone actually stays silent and keeps upmost respect!
