I doubt he'll go that far. Think he knows he has a couple of games in him at most not a full season. He shouldn't really be needed to get them over the line vs London and Fev and he'll be used sparingly in those games to get some match fitness into him for the big one vs Hudds and MPG if it comes to that. Irrespective of his age and match fitness you'll struggle to find a better leader/voice in a dressing room/pitch for what awaits HKR in the next few weeks.

Reminiscent of the day Dean Bell picked himself for the must win home gave V PSG in 1996. When looking at his choices in the centre figured 'I'm long since retired and still have more to offer.'

| think he's crackers. I can see why he is doing it but he should leave his legacy intact, with his last game the grand final

| He probably realised how much of a pay cut he'd have to take if Hull KR got relegated.

| I thought JP's role was to instil professionalism. A reversion to semi-pro players seems something of a retrograde step to me.

| I think he's mental personally. His career had such a perfect end. All neatly wrapped up in a nice little package.
KR obviously seriously worried about relegation. What if his last game is to lose the MPG and get relegated?

On the other hand .....if he saves HKR from relegation then he will have messiah status in east Hull.

| How will him doing this in any way tarnish his reputation? If anything it speaks volumes about what he's willing to do for his team. Which in itself should be a massive kick up the arris for the rest of the squad.

| JP has never been one to take the easy route. This is typical of his great character - his side is in deep trouble and he holds his hand up to help. Good luck JP top man!

| I'm never keen on players coming out of retirement, especially when they're in a senior coaching or management position.
I hope it works for him but I think really it just shows quite how desperate Hull KR currently are.

all of this was overshadowed by the significant impact Nathan Picchi went on to make in said game, and throughout the rest of the season.

| All those saying this diminishes his legacy etc... are idiots. He's not trying to resurect his career he's trying to keep KR in SL.
Get some perspective.

I agree, if he'd have been doing half a season or more then I could understand but it's just 3/4 games. I just hope they stay up now, whilst it wouldn't diminished his legacy it would suck to see him leaving the field after losing a Million Pound Game and being a part of a relegated team.
