I think it is more to do with the fact that McDermotts role at Leeds previously was very undervalued. He was a lot more of an important cog in that Smith reign than he was getting credit for.

It was after him leaving that Smith's side started to fade, and then picked up again with McClennan.

You only have to speak with the players to realise just what they wanted.

After McDermott left people started to call for Smiths head after a very dissappointing end to the season. All the talk was that it was McDermott that was running that side. A lot of it was of course knee jerking after a poor season end. But the facts are Leeds played some sublime RL when McDermott was assistant.

In 07 for large parts we were god awful! with thacks the only forward other than jp looking effective or interested.

Except, of course, for the part that really matters.

Might have already been mentioned but the players were very vocal in the fact they didn't want McDermott to leave. A lot was spoken about his pre-season training regime that got the team in tip top condition, something that was bemoaned by some players at the start of the 2010 campaign that would maybe attribute to our sluggish start.

Agreed but it was far from all roses under ts as some would have us believe. It would seem people are looking back with short memories. Our play under ts had some big problems. Our general attack and our inability to get over the line when it was tight to win the close games was lacking. We needed to $hit a miracle to get over! It was great to watch but frustrating at times. bluey improved those issues but had his own faults.

I agree that 07 was a great season with a great win at the end. But a lot of the rugby played by Leeds that season was poor. Leeds under ts had it's problems. It's been suggested the team has been in decline since ts left. It's my opinion we were poor at times whilst he was here as well a good. We have played great rugby under Bluey improving in some areas but also been poor at times. ts was not infallible and the alleged decline of Leeds been laid at blueys feet is unfair in my opinion. that's my point I think you misunderstood me.
