This is the lady and her family I talked about in my first post who I saw leaving in tears about 10mins before the end. Pretty much that whole section of crowd where they were sat in the lower section of the North Stand closest to the East Stand left early.

Quote: Inflatable_Armadillo "Not quite, it is a condition of the purchase of the ticket that they would like you to remain seated (at all times?) and reserve the right to throw you out if you don't do what they would like you to do. It has nothing primarily to do with health & safety because it is not inherently unsafe to stand up in front of your seat. If it was how would you get to your seat in the first place, what about half time, what about having to stand to let other people (rather annoyingly) go passed to have a p1ss before half time. The main reason they don't want anyone to stand for long periods is that the people behind you stand and that in the main just hacks people off... why have a seat and not sit in it.

Of course I am fairly certain that the clubs risk assessments do talk about preventing large sections of the crowd from standing for long periods as this could lead to safety problems and crowd trouble if they get over excited and start to d1ck about.

So, it has nothing really to do with health & safety (as most things that get blamed (by the Daily Mail mainly) on health & safety LAWS don't either) and it just a condition that they would like you to follow. If someone is stood at the back of the stand, no messing about, then there is no real reason to kick them out or be worried about anything unless there risk assessment expressly states that this is a risk, which I doubt!

They of course don't need any reason to kick you out or not let you in to the ground in the first place, it is their ground, they can do what they like as long as they don't break any other law by telling you can't come in because you are too old, of the wrong sex, of the wrong race of because you are disabled!'"

What if there is an emergency and first aiders etc need to get through?

Also, if someone was to fall over a seat you could have a dominoe effect.

I think you will find it is a health and safety requirement, and yes I do have qualifications in this type of thing.

You surprise me then by your terminology and definitions, I too have some qualifications and much experience being a construction professional. Health & Safety does not have any 'requirements' as health & safety legislation is all procedural and it does not require you or anyone else to do anything other than (put very simplistically) follow the procedures laid down, follow best practise guidance in your industry, carry out risk assessments and ensure these risk assessments are communicated to and followed by your employees. That is very simply put, but that about sums it up. It does not say anywhere in H&S legislation that people are not allowed to stand-up at a Rugby grounds, or indeed anything similar about kids wearing goggles to play conkers, not being allowed to climb trees or even that men on building sites should wear hard hats! Reports and industry guidance might 'recommend' that all these be considered in your risk assessment, there is no 'requirement' for anything!

If there is an emergency and first aiders need to get through, people will get out of the way!!! What if someone falls over the seat anyway, you know, going to and from there seat? They fall over, hurt them self and possible someone else but in most cases nothing more! They have identified a potential issue with people standing and therefore set spectators expectations by saying they can't stand and indeed a large section of people standing for long durations will probably lead to safety concerns. Some bloke standing up now and again and not sitting down is not a H&S requirement, it might make sense and they might decide to kick him out but most probably because he is an idiot and hacking everyone else off around him, not because he has become a major H&S risk by standing!

Health and safety requirement for standing up, do me a favour. If first aiders needed to get through people would have to stand up anyway what are they going to do? walk across peoples knees.

Speaking of being pathetic, I went up to your little pathetic football club for the JPT this year and leeds fans had tickets for standing behind the goal but for some "health and safety b*****ks" they shoved everybody together in the corner seats. It was like 2 people to every seat where I was sat. I'm surprised they didn’t kick us all out for standing up because at the end of the day its health and safety

Just come back from being away and saw your thread, I can only apologise if this behavoiur cause upset. I was stood fairly close to the kids in the East Stand, I say kids because that is who most in that section are, that saying I am no way condoning their behavior and I am of the opinion that all people that cause trouble should be banned fullstop.

I didn't see any pint glasses thrown but did see a few empty plastic bottles thrown from both sides followed by exchanges of hand signs.

It really is a shame that 20-30 kids can cause this to happen and I have wrote of to Hull Fc to give them my throughts and hopefully they will do something about them. We recently had a Warrington fan write on our forum what a great time they had and a wonderful atmosphere in the stadium which is what we all hope will happen every week, so to the few Leeds fans on here that tar us all with the same brush please dont.

Quote: LS16_Rhino "Simply close that section of the East Stand off – simples.'"

Usually it is that section of the North Stand that is sectioned off (we rarely get a full North Stand so it is easier).

The problem is that the unreserved sections are at the ends of the East Stand. People want to go in groups with their friends (no the same people every week) so choose unreserved tickets and can't sit in the desired half-way point (like you can stand there at Headingley) so either have to go to the South East corner (and sit near the majority of home fans) or the North East corner (where they can act like divvies all day). Personally, I think that if they made that corner reserved it would stop the problems. You'd know who was sitting where and be able to ban them accordingly if they choose to reserve that seat, and it will stop those with unreserved tickets just strolling up and choosing to cause problems.

It's also recently come to light that they had 15 year old stewards working there, also illegal. As far as the FA is considered it's done with, Carlisle getting a slap on the wrist. They've brought in external stewards from an agency now I think so they're at least TRYING to do something about it.

I was speaking to a friend who went to the FA cup semi final at Wembley.

He said as fans made their way from the tube station towards the stadium, the Totenham and Pompey fans were sent left and right up the bridge.

As soon as the fans were separated by a concrete wall and a 30 foot drop, they started giving it large, saying what they were going to do to each other. Once they got to the top, with nothing much to separate them hey seemed to go back to normal.

Sound pretty similar to what happened at Hull (not that I saw it), that when a physical barrier will stop any sort of comeback, there'll always be some prats who give it the hard man act.

Its the numbers of people acting in thsi way that is the issue, and something that Hull should look into.

Having never been inside either Hull ground, or indeed the boulevard before the KC is it a problem with both clubs or just FC?

I go to both matches in Hull each year and have done for ages.I must be fortunate that the only trouble that ever directly impacted on me was at the Boulevard.
Yes i saw most of waht occured this time at the KC and have mailed my views to the club.
Its always ironic that whilst this eyar i spent a couple of hours in "the bricklayers' before the match and it was really relaxed and hospitable that as such wont get any publicity/columm inches of positivity compared to what the mindless dross in the KC have generated.
Such is life.

I'd agree with alll of that. It is usually just teenagers giving it the big one. And I would say it is a problem for both clubs

I wouldn't like to say it is just FC fans that are the problem, but I go with family to games, and even in the Boulevard days, we were subjected to some shocking abuse on the way out of the ground at times.

I know Andy that posted above, he got his jaw broken by a hull "fan" on the way out of Headingley for no apparent reason a few years back. All clubs have their fair share of idiots fair enough, but it seems as though Hull have a higher proportion of these than anyone else!

They didn't do anything about those sat in the area where you were at the back of the stand under the scoreboard singing obscenities either did they.
