| Quote: Les Norton "Dwyer is best utilised off the bench where he can make a real impact. I hope he stays with us.'"
He may well do. What I suspect may be the case is that Leeds have told him there's no guarantee that his contract here will be extended and have told him he's free to negotiate a longer deal elsewhere, should he wish to do so. In other words, a year's grace to sort something out for a player who's clearly given it his all - as opposed to the quick out-the-door shown to players who maybe haven't.

Dwyer is no upgrade on Powell.
Ive been Dwyers biggest critic and for the longest time on here but i cant see us letting him go to be honest. He can serve as a decent impact sub for this year while Corey develops at Fev and gets half a dozen or so games of SL before letting Dwyer go at end of next season.
If Wigan offer him a longer term deal and he wants to take them up on it by all means let him go. I would hope no transfer fee would be involved. I hate us to pay them something for taking him lol.

| Happy to keep Dwyer for a year. We don't know how Leeming will settle and Johnson is a way off.
That said, if any player is not happy with their position at the club they have two options for me. Get better or get out.

Without him not having any run of games how do you know Johnson is way off??

Any player that couldn't break into that shower of rubbish last season is clearly not ready.

| Or as with so many coaches under pressure Agar kept picking supposedly 'solid' older players who failed to perform week after week? We said lack of chances for kids would be a side-effect of another poor season.

A fair point but with parcell on the outer and then gone, Lunt brought in and then injured and Dwyer doing his headless chicken routine I believe it is telling Johnson only got a cameo once we were safe. If Johnson was ready he should have been able to get more game time.
He also looked very uncomfortable in his cameo.
To run with only Leeming and Johnson next season would be short sighted and an unnecessary risk for me. Let's see how Leeming settles and let's not overburden Johnson before his career even starts. If he is ready then he will quickly get Dwyer's expected bench spot and then Dwyer can leave. If he isn't he has further time to get there.
Yes we need to develop kids but they need a sensible controlled path to the first team. Not to get lobbed in while we all cross our fingers.

Sorry but that one line is the daftest thing I have seen on here in a long time. You had it pointed out to you before. What the hell you were watching at that game is anyone's guess. Distribution superb when on. Try assist, no missed tackles, and very nearly a try of his own. How in this world that is uncomfortable I do not know?

Totally agree Gotcha, although putting too much emphasis on a short cameo in a dead rubber would be a bit daft he did look very comfortable and ready for first team game time, biggest thing that stood out was his distribution which was better than we have had for a long time IMO

I gave a number of reasons why I don't believe dumping Dwyer yet is the right move. Johnsons's tentative cameo is just one, though to jump on it obviously serves your particular agenda.
I hope Johnson comes good, I have no reason to think he won't but I see no reason to overburden the lad at this early point in his career.

| Of course Corey isnt ready, how can he be? Hes a teenager that has only played 10 mins of SL. In the same way Sinfield, Maggsy, Rob, JJB, Disko, Chev etc wasnt ready for SL after playing 10 mins.
People genuinely expect kids to come into the 1st team and look like superstars or the kid isnt anywhere near good enough?
Ive watched a lot of Corey and hes a tremendous prospect, he did great in his little taster of SL. He needs a bit more time this season in 1st team and then weve a hooker for the next 10 years.
He will be good for Leeds for a long time.

Spot on.
We all know Dwyer isn’t that good a hooker and is best used as an impact hooker.
To go into this season with a young lad who’s only played 10 mins in SL as starting hooker would be crazy and would be rightfully criticised by people on here.

I have not given any view on your other points, or the above, which I actually don't fully dissagree with. I was simply responding to the daft post that he looked uncomfortable on his only game time, and the only time you say you have ever seen him, which simply was not the case.
