| A sad day for everyone. A brave guy on and off the field, my deepest condolences to his wonderful wife, kids and family. I can remember watching him in the Leeds acadamy years ago, everybody could see what a player he was going to be even in those days. RIP Rob you will be sadly missed

| Hull FC fan here. Just wanted to share what I have just posted over on our board:
Such devastating news when it broke last night and one that has been on my mind ever since. Such a great player and one that commanded respect on the field from both his teammates and his opponents, rightfully adored by Leeds supporters and admired by fans from all other clubs. Not many players can do that. But to then go through what he did afterwards and to face it with the attitude and bravery that he did and help bring such a cruel disease to the public conscious... he was a class player but an even classier person.
RIP to him. My thoughts have been with his family and friends and everyone that is mourning his loss.

| I went down to the ground last night with my son, it was very peaceful and moving.
A huge tribute of flowers, scarves and shirts are being left at the John Holmes statue. Saw flowers being left my Cas and Hull fans and our next Home Secretary was there as well, I spoke to her briefly and she was charming and spoke in glowing terms about Rob and his family.
A note had been left from a Warrington fan crediting the grit Rob had shown with helping them find hope and determination to deal with their own mental health challenges.
It’s a wonderful legacy and tribute to the man if you can impact people you have never met in such a positive way.

| Im just numb, its devastating news that we all knew was coming but is a total gut punch when it finally happens..
I lost my mother suddenly earlier this year and Rob was her inspiration, she loved him to bits, she loved him as a player and loved him more for everything he did fighting this horrible disease and doing it all with his cheeky smile and a quiet dignity.
He was a colossus on and of the pitch, no mean feat for a lad that was 5'11 and went toe to toe with some of the biggest monsters in the game.
He leaves behind a simply amazing legacy not just his exploits on the pitch but everything he was able to achieve as a figurehead in the MND community and even an inspiration in the wider UK sporting community.
Thank you for everything Rob, there will never be another Rob hence the chant "Theres only one Rob Burrow"

| As an opposition fan (Wigan) I couldn't help but admire, respect and like Rob Burrow as a player, even when my guys were on the wrong end of his talent. Even a lot of great players don't get the respect they deserve from opposition fans until they hang up their boots. Rob was one of those rare players who could transcend that. I particularly looked forward to when he represented his country, when I could properly get behind him and cheer him on, and I will always remember his outstanding player of the series exploits for Great Britain in the 2007 test series victory over New Zealand. I think I will break out the dvd of that again this weekend! Rugby league has lost a true icon, whose legacy will continue to grow, but, of course, the real loss is with his family and friends. What a player, what a man.

Rugby League to pay homage to Rob Burrow CBE at Wembley Saturday’s Betfred Challenge Cup Final between Warrington Wolves and Wigan Warriors will kick off at 307pm, as Rugby League celebrates the life of Rob Burrow CBE – the former Leeds Rhinos, England and Great Britain scrum half who wore the number 7 jersey with such courage and distinction throughout his playing career. Following Burrow’s death at the age of 41 last Sunday, supporters will be able to leave tributes at the Rugby League Statue outside Wembley Stadium from 945am on Saturday morning – offering the opportunity to fans of all clubs to show their appreciation and admiration for his courage and humanity, as so many Leeds devotees have done already at AMT Headingley. There will be further chances to demonstrate that affection with the Wembley crowd invited to join in one minute’s applause after 7 minutes of each of the four Finals on Rugby League’s traditional showpiece occasion – starting with the inspiresport Champion Schools Final in the morning, followed by the second Betfred Women’s Challenge Cup Final to have been played at Wembley, which features Burrow’s beloved Leeds Rhinos taking on the holders, St Helens.
