| Quote: Joshheff90 "I think people are being a bit harsh on walkers defence. I think in his games he's made a few important tackles. And he's much faster than Golding. I would agree Golding currently is better in defence, but to say unconvinced by walker in my opinion is just a tad harsh.
As for who to play in the semi, with our non structured style of attack we are heavily reliant on players that can pull something special out of the bag. Golding isn't ever going to do that for us, he can't even break the line. Where as walker has scored quite a few tries in his short stint, I remember at least one being a match winner. Also the way he broke the line from nothing last week to create a try. That's the player we need in our side.'"
And there is the problem, Walker is the best in attack no question. However, he has yet to fully prove himself in defence in terms of try saving tackles. Whilst Walker has scored a few, Golding has saved a few. The scales are balanced at the moment for both players.
Personally, although I know Ashton, I prefer Jack's attacking style to watch. But then again a safe hand in defence in the semi's????
I think a previous post suggested Walker for the Car game. I agree. That will be the perfect test to see how he stands up to our potential grand final opponents!

Dot think so.
Walker clearly wants first team rugby sooner rather than later, preferably at full back.
We have the best full-back in the league contracted to 2022.
Looks to be a special player though.

| Wasn't Golding subbed in his last game at Wakefield after a gutless carry that cost Leeds conceding a try and subsequently not selected since? Injuries aside Walker should retain the starting full-back role as he's comfortably the better all round option at this point.

| I doubt it. not he wont.I also said, which you choose to selectively ignore, that I hoped when the dust settled it would be sorted.
and seeing as a current first team player was the one telling people about a fall out you would guess it had legs.
players and coaches have always had fall outs. this squad and coach aren't immune

This again, it's getting very repetitive and boring now isn't it? Hence the block button being used.

And I used the word "unlikely" which you choose to ignore and pretend I've said "he won't"

| I hope the plan going forward isn't just about Golding vs Walker at fullback. They are two talented young players, and you'd ideally want both of them in the side for the long term. That means one of them moving to 6 or 7, which will only be possible if they get a game there. The worst outcome IMO will be one of them kicking their heels most of next year or ending up on loan at Fev or similar.

I thought he went well. He was confident under the high ball and took some that Briscoe should really have come inside to claim.
I think he needs to be a bit more thoughtful with his involvement. He won't last long if he continues to take mid-set carries straight into the forwards. A few times he was smashed by the Cas defence and then struggled to get involved in the Moreno expansive play where he should be.
For his age, he looks like a very, very good player.
