Sadly i dont think he will be back not at Leeds anyway

| Quote: Lord_Percy "You're the one who pointed out that this season was the first time we'd gone out of the cup at the first attempt since 1998, along with the comment of "Enjoy the reunion guys!"'"
IIRC that was an answer to a question it's not as if I started a thread with it or anything.
Highlighting the historical significance of a particular result and linking it to an off field celebration is hardly 'celebrating' the defeat in my book. I'd imagine I were as disappointed as the next supporter, as I increasingly are game by game with this season as a whole.
Quote: Lord_Percy "No mention of his leeds contract but it does mention his "release"
There were no articles (that I recall) on Tansey's future at Leeds until the 'loan' deal to the Roosters was mentioned.
It is the norm when players sign extensions to existing contracts for it to be released via the press as a good news item. Perhaps I missed it but I don't recall any such announcement re Tansey. Are we to assume that Tansey is already contracted to Leeds for 2011?
Hetherington's use of the word 'Hopefully' is interesting. I assume he's also hopeful that Greg Eastwood will be able to (and decide to) start his three year Leeds contract in December 2009.

| Full back for the weekend after the good showing on Saturday. Now's his chance to make his mark.
Stats for last weekend anyway:
Meters: 100
Carries: 14
Busts: 1
Offloads: 3
Tackles: 4
Missed: 3
Errors: 1
He made 2 try saving tackles on the line and although he missed 3 they were late on and he was suffering as it was his 1st full game at that pace in a while, plus Sowward goes round most FB's at will anyway.
On the whole "Is he coming back in '11?" thing... lets put it this way. If you were single and in your early (mid by the time his contract is up) 20's and had the oportunity to stay in Sydney longer would you come back? I wouldnt!

I'm definitely not planning on it

That is the part where it all falls down for me but hey I didn't think he would see this much gametime in the NRL in the first place. I didn't realise any NRL club (even the Roosters) were quite this desperate.
Tansey in SL was your classic 'jack of all trades' even though he didn't do any of them particularly well and I'll be amazed if that doesn't become apparent in the NRL over time.
Can't knock the lad for giving it a go though.

He was a decent player, but was never able to get a run in his best position. He had a lot to recommend him though.
Time in the NRL will do him good. If he gets a few games he can surely only improve. He'll be subject to much more rigorous training, and will be pushed to improve week on week

Which position was that. Full back, wing, stand off, scrum half or hooker?

when he first came into the team I think he was a halfback. Don't remember seeing him there that often

I don't think he looks kike a halfback to be honest. I think full back might be his best position. For the team his utility tag was good, for himself I think he needs to specialise in a position, and I think fullback would be the one to go for. Seems like the Roosters might be giving him that chance.
I think the talent is in there, but it didn't quite seem to emerge at Leeds. Being 3rd choice (at best) at full back won't have helped.

I personally thought he was a decent fullback. Looked safe under the high ball, and returned the ball well. He never seemed to boss the game in the halves, and his floor passing wasn't good enough from hooker.

| I think were justifying his claims to be a jack of all trades and master of non quite adequately here.
Full back - too slow to the ball, never beat a man on the return. Safety was his only concern.
Wing - Neither big enough nor fast enough, just a filler.
Half/back - His only hope, had a good one at the Harlequins from the bench on that scorching hot midday kick off game in 2007. Not sure who he was on for at the time but he played like a stand off. That was the game when Webb spent a quarter of it in the sin bin and should really have been off.
Hooker - if you say so. Defence in and around the ruck area was half hearted at best. The attempted tackle on Pryce in the Qualifying Semi Final last year said it all.
If the NRL can turn Tansey into anything specific then they must have some excellent coaches down there.

| To be fair he must have something that coaches can see, and fans can't. That could be flexability though, and being just about good enough to cover most back positions to a decent standard

He must have, mustn't he. I always thought there was a bit of an X-Factor when he played and his ability to score the odd try would support that.
For Leeds he started 20 from17 - 18
2007 - QSF - Sub - St Helens - Away - Lost 8 - 10
2008 - QSF - Sub - St Helens - Away - Lost 10 - 38
