The offer was improved with the promise of a chance to claim a place in the side then come back and talk again.
Sleeve honoured his word.'"
How was he “on his way to Warrington” he clearly didn’t sign a contract with them, he may have received an offer, but that’s not unusual. Leeds did not back down to the request to only playing at full back, Walker will play wherever Brian McDermott selects him.
So to summarise, a player in high demand was offered a contract, it wasn’t accepted, he was then offered a better contract.

| Quote: mattsrhinos1978 "Anyone see macs interview when he mentions how oledzki needs to accept that he's a prop and accept that he's going to be sore every week playing that position? Then gave examples of how singleton and mullally accepti that getting hurt comes with the position. Thought it was a bit strange, oledzki runs it in like a train every time without any concern for his body, from what iv seen he's already more than accepted that he's a prop and the pitfalls that come with it.
On the game. Who were our players that impressed?'"
From what you've you've, I thought it was going to be McD taking a swipe, but I think what he said was fair. He's pretty much saying he's a young lad who is new to they game. Hes probably ready physically but he needs to develop mentally to play prop. Its what you'd expect of a young prop.

Exactly GH may not be everyone's cup of tea but he is nobody's fool. To lose a talent of Walker's stature would have been folly indeed. I would suggest GH is more than a match for the ego-maniac that owns "show me the money"

| On Oledzki, it's obviously going to hinge on how we go with injuries that see how many games he gets. I kinda understand what McDermott means about "accepting he's a prop and going to be sore". It's not just a physical thing it's a mental toughness to it too, look at someone like Peacock, he would be in bits looking absolutely shattered one minute and the next when his team needed a carry he'd be front and centre. Maybe it offers some insight into why other young props such as Baldwinson didn't make it at Leeds.

He had a decent run out. Solid, no frills and no major errors. I doubt he will make the starting 17 very often but certainly will slot in ok once the inevitable injuries start.

I say it as I see it - GH doesn't get everything right but he is nobody's fool and he was bright enough to realise that he had to compromise if he wanted to keep Walker. Seems like a good piece of decision-making would you not agree?

| I don't think anybody really compromised, they just negotiated. Walker won't be the first player he's had to work hard to keep and had more negotiating to do than on others occasions. Just probably hasn't been one that been so out the in public domain with the details.
One thing I suspect GH might do is to sit Walker down and tell him he should be a bit smarter in terms of keeping things in house instead of telling so many.

Something had to give so a good old compromise appears to have been reached - a great result all round

I think the club were equally guilty of bringing things into the public domain and not for the first time either.
