Agree he was not given much coin but he often liked to get bargains or unknowns and transform them. I think when Danny Wilson first came North from Cardiff he turned pro with Widnes before moving across to Swinton. He was certainly a gifted maverick who on the field deserved to be playing in front of bigger crowds than those frequenting Station Road as they bobbed up and down between the 1st and 2nd divisions. Still the joint holder of most drop goals in a match with five - along with others a certain Lee Briers who seemed to spend one afternoon at Thrum Hall doing little else only to concede a try and conversion at the death to lose, hilariously.
