"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection."

| Quote: Juan Cornetto "The other players also had chance to make hay against those lower sides so only a very small pinch of salt. You have to say Bish has done a good job when given the opportunity. In the Wigan game he did not have the advantage of Watkins insided him like Briscoe has enjoyed so even less salt I would say'"
And they did, their try per game ratio suffers from playing against the likes of Saints and Hudds which BJB didn't, also from missing out on one or two of the weaker teams to make way for BJB to get a game. I'm sure Hall (vs Widnes) and Briscoe (vs London) would've made hay if they played those games.
No he didn't get to have Watkins at centre, but neither has Briscoe on a few occasions due to being moved over to the left to accommodate BJB. Briscoe has scored in 6 of his 11 league appearances, 2 of the 5 games he didn't score in came when he was over on the left. In those games BJB grabbed 2 tries both times playing outside Watkins and the ones vs Cas were laid on a plate that any of our wingers would've finished.

Famous last words, I know, but for me Child has looked a much much better referee this year. Hope he continues that way.
Miles better than Hicks, and better than Bentham for me.

I have no problem with Briscoe who I rate very highly. It is just that I am worlds apart from 'Worlds Apart. and am putting BJB's case who has done OK and just deserved his spot on form for the last match IMO. I think we should use him while we have him but only based on form. If one of the other back three needs a rest or their form drops Bish should come in.

| Would go with what Him put, but really think the club are making a mistake this week and should have introduced at least one other youngster. Mulhern for Kirke would not have damaged us in anyway and been a risk.

Why should they? The club will pick players they believe are ready for the step up, let's not rush them into the first team just for the sake of it.
You have to remember it can have a negative impact on the player too. (See George Elliot)

| Also Kirke tends to start for JP when JP is injured. For all that people complain, when he gets decent minutes he's not a bad prop (see Wigan Cup semi 2012, Catalans away playoff 2012 etc).
Would go with:
1. Hardaker
20. Briscoe
3. Watkins
4. Moon
5. Hall
21. Sutcliffe
6. McGuire
8. Leuluai
13. Sinfield
17. Kirke
19. Achurch
12. Ablett
15. Delaney
14. Ward S
16. Bailey
23. Singleton
28. Ward R

| Quote: Juan Cornetto "In the Wigan game Hall made 8.08m per carry, Bish made 7.73m per carry and Hardaker 7.5m per carry. He also put himself in a great support position in centre field which could well have won the match for us had McGuire passed to him.
For the season Briscoe averages 10.17m per carry (1st place), Bish 9.84 (2nd place) and Hardaker 8.39 (6th place) and Hall 8.08m (8th place). BJB also has the best trys per match average. So I do not think BJB is letting the side down and is a great asset to the side. The back three should be continued to be selected on form.'"
Honestly, Juan. The problem with being so dogmatic on the stats (or more precisely the stats available to you) is that not all tries, yards or errors are equal. For that you have to use observation and judgement. Is a walk-in try the same as a supremely skilful one? It is for Opta. Is failing to take an impossible pass the same as knocking on under no pressure? It is for Opta. Is taking a kickoff return 15 yards three times as good as driving the opposition back 5 yards through a three-man tackle? It is for Opta.
Add to that the stats they *don't* publish (How many seconds between contact and play-the-ball would be a relevent one when discussing Briscoe) and you really do only have a partial comparision between players.
I like BJB, I'm glad he's in the squad and don't think he should be frozen out because he's leaving at the end of the season. But Briscoe is better than him, a judgement made with eyes and sense not numbers. Barring injury he should be playing every week.

Why would they? How about because the side has looked tired for last two games? How about player development and integration? Most importantly how about, Kirke offers nothing, was shocking last week, and we have a player in his position pushing for another game.
I understand how some posters are immune to putting younger players in, but at least put up a valid argument not to do it. It's not like making wholesale changes and putting very young kids in is being suggested.

| Quote: Juan Cornetto "I seem to recall Kirke only came on after half time and made 4 more tackles than Singleton and one less carry. I also seem to recall he put in some solid defence around the ruck. Without knowing the minutes played it is difficult to compare with accuracy.
With Leeds playing a sort of mob handed blitz defence we have to expect that we will have quite a few missed tackles which is not a problem providing the rest of the gang stop the opposition. What is more a worry is a one on one miss like Ablett made for Green to score.'"
singleton did last 6 mins and 1st 6mins total 12 mins
kirke did 25 mins all 2nd half
bailey had most time i think.just watched game again , and what a game !

Unfortunately you are correct, when I saw some of the pre match comments on the Wigan board about how many points we would put on them. I feared the worst, as per the saints game.
