Jake Trueman has all the hallmarks of a player easy to overpay. Yet to fully reach the required level but thanks to the scarcity of decent home grown halves his next contract will certainly be lucrative. Interesting to see how he goes and the same applies to Austin. Could turn out that the wiser spend would be improving his terms in order to hang on.

An outside bet might be Pryce at Huddersfield.

Leeds have shown a willingness to splash the cash recently so funding a transfer fee won't be a problem as long as Hetherington feels the player is worth it.

When did we last pay a transfer fee? Its hard to remember as its always listed as 'undisclosed' was Leeming a transfer fee signing? Been a long time since we paid a lot for a player.

We paid transfer fees of £205k in the past couple of years. This will be for Gale and Leeming and possibly Mclelland who were all under contract when signed.
We're pretty much the only club in the league who can afford this nowadays.

Trueman on his day looks very good. He does also seem quite injury prone though and to be honest he sounds terrible on his social media - although quite a few players fall into that category.

Both would be in the conversation you would imagine when the time comes. We really could do with a settled HB combination.

That's why I'd be inclined to try and keep Austin if he does a good job. Agree that Trueman does sound like a bit of a melon on social media. If I ran a club I'd forbid anybody from posting. Then again if I ran a club we'd probably in the conference.
