Agree that a good or coach will get the best out of average players. Look at Wayne Bennett at the Dolphins a team made up of largely cast offs from the NRL.
Regarding Frawley and MOM to a lesser extent I was trying to say his choice of recruitment has not been brilliant either.
Before anybody says it, yes we signed Croft and Akers but anybody who watches rugby would know they would be a vast improvement on existing players.

| That's fair enough, but let's include McDonnell who's been good on the whole, and even Ruan, Roberts and Hudson are reasonable project signings (for what they are).
Mom is a good player, I think we'll see better from him later this year and he's very good for the winger outside him. He's disappointed me so far but you can see a player in there somewhere.
Frawley - I can see what they were thinking with him, but it's not working out so far. Sure he'll play other games this year but.. he was always a stop-gap until the youth came through I guess.
Olpherts was a signing made on stats not quality, and I think we've retained a couple of players we probably shouldn't too. We'll see.

| The Momster will come good. It was a shame Lumb got injured so soon as it seemed they had the makings of a decent combination. I like Roberts but he doesn't seem to be a natural winger.

| Roberts was training as a centre during the off-season. Fusitu'a's injury and the release of Olpherts, while maybe predictable, left Roberts as the last experienced outside back on the books. I don't think he's bad as a reserve. Its not his fault that he's ended up playing almost every week. It looks quite likely that he'll end up behind a few other players though, even without Fusitu'a. Lumb looks a better winger and McCormack and Simpson (touch wood) have more potential as centres. I'd be surprised if he's here much beyond this season.

| Anyone other than the bottom 3 sides we see playing us as a guaranteed 2 points.
We are just awful and going backwards.
Doubt We will remove Smith before season end but that’s another year completely wasted.

| Leeds look a really well drilled outfit where every player knows their role.
I wish it was true but they don’t have a clue what they are doing, the coaching is a disgrace.

| Saints next week looks like it could be a bad one.
In pre season most agreed he should only be judged after 10-12 games, iirc I thought that was fair given the big squad changes.
Saints will be game 12.
This year feels like last year,so far. The same issues / problems in the same areas on the field. It's a big list,I won't bother writing it as we all know them ( though reasons why differ fir various posters).
Saints is a huge ask, honestly I'd be happy with a good performance even if we lost but I cant even see that.

John Wilkin really grinds my gears, but everything he said in last nights game broadcast was in the money and he summed up everything thats wrong with the team.

Same.
Other week RS had me agreeing with a Bradford fan, this week it's Wilkin.
That's horrible

| I'm still watching Leeds and wanting to see signs of recovery under RS; we need bodies back to do that.
However. He has left himself at risk of bad luck now: if Croft or one or two other key players gets injured, I don't think he'll survive the backlash from fans simply on the number of losses, and I think his recruitment has been too patchy so far.
I'm not sure Rowley is the right man to replace him if it happens, or if he would come. Demetriou is a potential candidate; his star was very high over there for a while, he knows the English game - maybe he would take the chance to rebuild his reputation at Leeds.
I'm also thinking Shaun Wane. I know people thought Wigan were boring under him but his record is pretty good - and what he is, arguably, is what we need for a young squad. He has faith in young lads but he's also disciplinarian and structured.
Ryan Carr is the other one who had a really good rep while he was here, spend a little time at Leeds before heading out down under again, never heard a bad word said about him but don't know if he'd come.
Interesting times anyway.

| From the outside looking in, the number of ex-players in administrative and coaching roles at Leeds looks questionable. Are these people in place on merit other than distant achievements on the playing field? I guess it is common at a lot of SL clubs.

| Clearly poor recollection on my part, maybe because of the Great Britain tour.
My point still stands that even the top coaches do not guarantee success.

Nothing guarantees success, having a decent coach increases the chances of success.
Having a poor coach dramatically reduces your chances.
I know this is revolutionary stuff.
