| I find Rohan a bit awkward and strange to be honest. I can see him rubbing lots of people up the wrong way. I'm not bothered though, as long as the team are happy and performing well.

| Quote: Backwoodsman "Like everyone else on here we want Smith to be highly successful. Also we are only 3 games into the season so it’s definitely a bit early to draw any conclusions. At least you have admitted you are a big Smith fan, I am assuming we have spent up to the salary cap limit as per Saints Wigan and Warrington. So if we don’t finish in the top four and Saints and Wigan are in the top four that to me is a failure. Undoubtedly smith is a decent bloke as per Sinfield late of this parish. Unfortunately being nice doesn’t translate onto the pitch and winning games. Hence the English rugby union management giving Sinfield the push. He now is the most highly paid water carrier in the world. If I recall last season when Smith was under pressure you claimed he was having to get rid of deadwood. This is now is Smiths team , personally I don’t think a top four finish is asking too much. You may note I am not even asking him to win any silverware .'"
I don’t particularly disagree with you on the results aspect this year.
The reason i like Smith is because he’s got a different approach (I understand that’s why dome dislike his coaching style)
I like people that challenge convention otherwise things just stay the same.
Apparently Matty Peet has a similar way of coaching, taking a lot from other sports and other forms of management. It’s probably down to them being career coaches not ex players .
As you’ve rightly said though it’s results that ultimately count.

I'm not an avid fan of the 15 man game, but I think you're been a bit hard on Sinfield. From what I gather he was a massive success at Leicester, and that's why he was fast tracked into the national set up. He wouldn't be the first RL scapegoat on the back of the RU teams poor performance, would he?

| People who are against Rohan just don’t like his personality in the main, fair enough.
Results-wise he has successfully clearly out loads of dead wood, sometimes quite brutally. Gone are the likes of Dwyer, Sutcliffe, Tindall, Austin. Sezer, Myler…
He knows what he wants in a player and he demands high standards. I still think he is too close to “nice guys” like Donno when they probably shouldn’t be playing first grade but hey.
Injuries also have a huge impact on success it isn’t all in the coach’s hands, as much as it would be nice if the world was so simple. Our wheels fell off last year off the back of an injury crisis and unrest caused by specific players in my view.
I think a fit Leeds team is absolutely capable of top 4 so let’s see how it pans out. Some of you will never like RS: but then Brian Mac got a ton of abuse too after being phenomenally successful….

As you say he was a massive success at Leicester. His task for England was defensive coach. Unfortunately over his tenure they conceded a lot of points. You are probably right regarding him being made a scapegoat. Certainly England haven’t improved since his demotion. His England contract is complete after the close of the six nations. Be interesting as to his next career move.

| Bit off topic, but England conceded 102 points in 7 games at the world cup, equating to around 15 points a match with a large amount I suspect being penalty conversions. They hardly conceded lots of points / tries.

| Once again slightly off topic, tonight’s rovers versus the wire may give an insight as to Warringtons potential this season.

Not sure I agree with that. I judge the coach by what I see on the pitch and last season we were dire, after a great 1st season. His personality may be off-putting to some, but it is way down the list imo.

I like that he challenges convention too, and I think ultimately we'll be a better team because of it. Some seem to think he's a bit of a mad professor, but stylewise many of the top NRL teams play in the fashion that Leeds are attempting to adopt. Difference is they do it with a discipline and accuracy that Leeds haven't had the quality of player to execute. While the complete replacement of the spine has left us a little short up front it's probably given Rohan players with the brains/skills to adopt his vision of the game. He's already proved he can get results against the "big" teams, but doing it on a week to week basis against the more unfancied teams is the big test. Beating Leigh tomorrow would be a huge step in the right direction.

Obviously I would love to win at Leigh as I have posted previously it’s early days. Highly unlikely it will have a major bearing as the current season unfolds. What has struck me so far this season is the commitment and togetherness of the team. Against Salford we dug ourselves out of a big hole and triumphed. We didn’t exactly get overwhelmed at Rovers, Catalan the first 20 minutes our defence was superb, admittedly we kept giving them the ball . But it certainly showed a tremendous amount of commitment to each other. Usually when teams perform like that they seem to have respect for the coach.

| It’s clear that the team is better this year than last. The new signings seem good characters.
Weather dependent, I think we might see a good game from Miller or Mom at Leigh. I feel both have tries in them.
Also think Holroyd will be better this week after a scratchy game against Cats.

| I'd agree that the team is better. Whether Rohan's approach can ever lead to the level of consistency a good team needs is a moot point. This week's game and next's are a good test - Leigh is exactly the kind of game we'd have lost last year off the back of a good performance, followed by a better, though probably failed effort against saints. Wins in either or both point to our heading in the right direction. Can we score enough to draw us beyond a lottery in every game we play? Who knows.

| Should be a good test. While I know there are match fitness question marks in theory Oledski Holroyd and Sangare have a slight size advatage over the Leigh front row options so you would hope this translates to metres gained and field position giving us more control and field position. Lets see how it plays out I would hope that we at least have parity in field position.
