| Quote: christopher "I didn’t say he was great just that he was one of the better performers
As i say our left side defence was dreadful
Tui blew far more chances than Sutcliffe by throwing the ball straight in touch 3 times
Thought Trout went well though'"
Fifita constantly attacked down Newman's side which is what gave Hampshire & Lynne the space to make killer breaks. Lynne mugged Newman a few times but I can forgive him & he'll learn.
Personally I was most frustrated with Briscoe & Watkins. Briscoe dropping a straightforward pass with the line wide open was criminal & Watkins is still way off his best offering no attacking threat whatsoever. The pair of them were shown up by a winger covering centre (Mason Caton-Brown) and their (4th choice?) winger on debut (Lee Kershaw).
If my memory serves me rightly I think that the 17 minute period where they scored 14 points was when Merrin was off? Says a lot if that is correct.

Fletcher: Course, he sees 'imself as an authority on curry, he does, on account of where he was stationed in the army.
Rudge: Where? India?
Fletcher: No, Bradford.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_40413.jpg |

| I really don’t understand why people think tui is a better full back thsn jack walker. It seemed like he had a good game against a league 1 side in the cup, following a bad week from jack walker in the SL. then everyone decided tui was a better full back. Jack walker is young and will make mistakes and have bad games. But he is by far the best FB at the club
I said on friday I thought Leeds were poor, just Huddersfield were poorer. The response was why can’t we just be happy with 2 points. The reason is, it papers over the cracks and you get a performance like today. Surely not too much longer for Furner now ?

And I agreed with you Friday, and it was me that got the attention for it. But it was fact, you can not simply ignore poor performances just because of two points. Otherwise that two points might be your last. Tui was poor Friday, and far worse today. The halfs were poor Friday and poor again today. Our wingers were awful Friday and poor again today. Two points or no points shouldn’t hide those facts.

| Wakey fan here who has not come tp gloat.
I just want to ask a genuine question, Watkins looked a shadow of his former self today, I know he's had a bad injury but he looks a totally different player. Was it a one off or is he suffering a massive loss in form.

Are you expecting top class performances at the moment? If so why?

It's a mystery mate. I think the injury has possibly finished him but I pray not.

I am expecting what I said Friday, don’t ignore the problems and change them. Two points or not.

It's hardly a mystery, he's coming back from one of the most serious injuries you can get. Sure, you recover psychically, but it can take months to recover mentally and to regain confidence. He's performing about as well as can be expected. Matt Diskin has said it took him a year before he was confident the injury wouldn't reoccur, and IMO, he was never the same player. Few are.

| Some really interesting points here ref both teams. We didn’t play their reserves, we played a team with some reserve replacements, just like we have most of the season. We dominated the first half and lost out to 2 long distance tries. We played well and showed great promise getting the 2 tries. What I didn’t understand was not taking the 2 but heh, once again that comes back to haunt us. Tui was good the majority of the game but his criticisers will only point out his mistakes. His ball return was v good in general. Merrin was the rock and we are a much better team when he is on the field. A shame Wellington couldn’t have helped more but that happens. Many negative comments on this tag but we have to stop thinking when winning, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Other than Saints and probably Wire, every other team can beat each other as the scores show today and Friday. I know I’ll be in the minority but David F has to stay for minimum of 2 seasons - we are on a re-build and we have no right to expect to be up there all the time. Keep the faith

I'm all for finding the positives, but you lost to a team with no halves, 1 centre, their premier prop playing on 1 leg and a winger on debut who got MOM against you.
To "dominate" and still lose makes it even worse!!

I don’t think they did really “dominate” us tbh. Sure their attack was free flowing at times but Wakey didn’t really look like surrendering. I think Myler isn’t the answer for you guys really. He didn’t look that threatening at all. Crosby DID look threatening though...
