I thought sinfield was pretty poor in the 1st half and went missing.

When sinfield was moved to hooker in 2nd half I thought he played really well and took control of the ruck which roby can't do.

IMO sinfield should start as hooker next week against kiwis.

Is Sinfield now England's best option in the key position on the field despite not playing the position (except in an emergency) in club football?

Sad times.

IMO he should start at 9 next week and put roby back on bench where he makes a impact.

Scott Moore ain't ready for this level yet IMO so sinfield the only option

Agreed. We don't have footballers playing at 9, we missed the trick there. Do you think David Waite knew something everyone else didn't when he selected Sinny there all those years ago?
To be honest I just think we need Sinfield with his hands on the ball as much as possible, and 9 seems to fit that as well as anywhere else. At club level it's not required because the team is built around him to begin with.

Roby made no impact today. There were no quick PTB's and no scoots from dummy half. He was basically a small forward playing with big forwards. He is not needed on the bench, move a half back to dummy half if needed for short spells.

Can I just say I like sinfield and think he is what Leeds are all about and in no way am I bagging him with what I'm about to say as I've praised him few times already in this topic.

IMO sinfield ain't suited or good enough to play loose at international level buy I think he could make a good hooker for England.

He can control the ruck, good in defence, good hands and very good kicking game which is what England is crying out for at hooker.

Before the backlash starts I think sinfield is Leeds main man and great captain and club man.

No backlash, you are entitled to a reasoned opinion.

In your post you have described the exact qualities we used to expect from a 13 before they all turned into just another smash and bang merchant.

Whereas I interpret the move as positive because Sinfield played well there (although I thought he had a decent first half as well, just forgot to kick, like the rest of England did!). I think to some degree it's irrelevant which position players play in their club games when it comes to internationals. Look at Eastmond. He's played centre before - but left centre. Today he played right centre. Then acting half back. He's played fullback and God knows where else. Being adaptable is useful at international level. Sinfield was good at hooker and so should play as hooker next week.

Roby, conversely, has not had a good season this year and to be honest I was surprised that Smith picked him, although he can give some zip to a game if he is spelled. But his passing has been consistently poor all year pretty much so the fact that some of his passes were dire today did not surprise me. Sinfield, though, looked like a renewed player in the second half and personally I'd like to see him like that again next week because England do need someone to guide them around, and he did that.

McGuire, however, shouldn't see any England shirt again. Nor for that matter should Roby. They both probably will because Smith is limited in his team available but neither were up to the mark today.

I agree they are the qualities of a loose forward and knew someone would ask me this but I don't feel sinfield makes the impact at 13 for England like he does for leeds.

I'm sure you Leeds fans would agree everything at Leeds has sinfield involved but for England he seems to go missing at loose.

Today when he went hooker it made huge diffrence to England and he started to show how he can play.

Like I said in my other posts on this topic I'm not bagging him as I really rate him at club level and would die for Leeds.

That's the KEY imo at leeds he does a lot of the organising and runs the gameplan with Mcguire and Burrow in supporting roles.
When he's selected for england that doesn't seem to be the case and he never has been a big running 13.

Sinfield was poor in the 1st half, and just ok in the 2nd, IMO no one really stood out, although Eastmond and tompkins (tompkins 2nd half) had decent games, thought Lee Smith and Mcguire in the 1st half was terrible, out of position for aussies trys, thought mcguire should have been kept of at half time not Briscoe, Peacock whom is usually awesome, was today, nowhere to be seen, we are so far behind the Aussies/Kiwi's we havent a hope in hell, of beating these 2 teams for the next 5 years!!
if this was your team who would your starting 17 be??

You see the difference is, McGuire [ihas[/i had a good season. His performance in the GF was wonderful - all quality. He just is the best 6 we have.

I know a lot of you don't accept this but whether McGuire had a good season or not, he just does not show up in internationals.
