Quote: ThePrinter "But in previous debates about this topic this year people have been talking about the last couple of years.....only you have harked back to 2005 for your own self interest.'"

No they haven't. They've whinged, whined and moaned after every CC draw about how long it's been since Leeds drew non-SL opposition, how unlucky Leeds are and how unfair it all is.

I might have had some sympathy for that viewpoint had it not been for the staggering 18 out of 26 home draws stat. Claiming CC draws against whipping boy SL rabble (majority drawn at home) as bad luck or injustice on a monumental scale is truly moronic.

Iran are playing Trinidad and Tobago in a pre-World Cup warm up that weekend, can't miss that technical masterpiece now can you.

Quote: William Eve "Terribly unfortunate CC draw for the Leeds Rhinos yet again as their bad luck continues unabated.

In the last 10 seasons, Leeds have...

It's about time Leeds got some luck in Challenge Cup draws.

[iThe odds on Leeds winning the Cup for the first time since 1999 shortened when they were drawn at home to Championship leaders Leigh - only their second tie against non Super League opposition since 2010, the other time was also against Leigh Centurions.[/i

Are you feeling lonely? You have managed to start a debate here of sorts. Not your most elegant effort, but I suppose they all count.

I have heard some vague mutterings on the subject, but (and I acknowledge that I don't read every thread on here) by far the greatest fuss I have ever seen made on the subject of Leeds' luck in Cup draws is being made by you, on this thread.

In a spirit of participation: Personally I don't worry too much about the effects of "luck" in random processes - you get a random outcome each time. Random chance is no great observer of "justice" or "fairness". I might be moderatley interested in a serious attempt to determine whether Leeds were more or less lucky than would be predicted by a purely random draw (in terms of the team they face) - taking into account the number of lower league sides in each draw etc. But not that interested. The Cup is usually won by a team that beats what's put in front of it 5 times in a row. That Leeds haven't managed that in 14 years is a bigger disappointment than whatever the draw has thrown up.

You could argue that it isn't a random process, due to conspiracy theory and all that. But my tinfoil hat is in the wash.

Quote: William Eve "No they haven't.'"

Yes they have, that's why people have mentioned "only one non SL club in the last 13,14,15, etc. ties. Only you've gone as far back as you have. And nobody said Leeds have consistently had that run, just that is what it was at this present period. I'm sure you could go back in any clubs period and find a good few years of cup draws and a bad few years.

Quote: William Eve "They've whinged, whined and moaned after every CC draw about how long it's been since Leeds drew non-SL opposition, how unlucky Leeds are and how unfair it all is.'"

No they haven't. Your view of whinge, whine and moaning (and also claims that we apparently SERIOUSLY called it bent and a fix) stems from people writing.....
"Oh look, another SL side for us"
"Oh I see Wigan have another easy tie"

Hardly the outrage you want to make it out to be.

A bit of light hearted mocking about the ease of Wigan's run in 2013 and the start of this one, all part of fan banter. But feel free to make out people were foaming at the mouth with rage and anger, it's just the usual rubbish you've made up.

I bet if you'd drawn Wigan away it'd have been declared a fix, and the RFL being corrupt, despite not playing away at Wigan in the cup since 1987. icon_lol.gif

Said to my mate, on the chances of getting thrashed, 2 ties I didn't want. Leeds or Wigan away....and hey presto !
I know Warrington/Cas/Widnes wouldn't have been easy....but it's bl00dy typical...still you have to be innit, to win it icon_biggrin.gif
