| Still not seen the replay as my laptop is down, but i'll have a look at the SL highlights on my phone, like i said i've seen that once, quickly and seen nothing since, plus i was West Edge of the South so can't see the big screen replays, if i disagree with my first thoughts i'll say so, but one thing i was right on was the policing of the offside, it was dire (both sides)

Sure, I can understand with one viewing why you'd think Riley was pulled back, you weren't the only one.
The sky commentators apologised after having seen the replay though.

Play the ball for Ratchford's try. Does Hodgson make even the remotest attempt to play at it or does he just put the ball down and walk over it?'"
It's a strange one, Hodgson stands up, sort of hops as Keinhorst gives his other leg a little tug as he gets up, then lifts his foot, hops to the other foot & almost puts a foot on the ball but the ball isn't moving at all. Could have penalised either team TBH, so probably fair as Keinhorst offends first.
On the basis I presume the ref was telling them to get back to him I didn't see anything unusual in the defensive line, perhaps a skinny 10m to but no-one noticeably in front of the ref in the portion I watched again. If HY is unable to say when Leeds were repeatedly offside I will assume it is hysterical nonsense.

Assume what you want, i don't give a shiny one, i haven't conversed with you often enough to care what you think.
First half, us attacking on our 20, forgive me if i didn't have my stop watch, my eye site is so bad that the few hundred people around me will be improving specsavers profits in the near future too.
You can't even make a forward pass out on tv, so how you can argue the tv is better when i was 10 metres away, in line, i probably had a better view than the touch judge.

thaler said on twitter there was interference from leeds in the PTB so he played advantage.
he also said he got mcshanes 'knock on' in the last minute wrong.
personally i have no problems when refs have the balls to admit they made an error. unlike when cummings used to try to cover up mistakes with stupid explanations

| Agree Tad but saying that i'd still like to see some sort of consistency and improvement in their general performances instaed of them getting wrapped in cotton wool aswell.

Reluctance to debate when challenged on hysterical statement noted. The day when home fans of a dominant team expected to stuff a weakened team & aren't doing & therefore scream for offside at every PTB stops will be the day I long to see.

You can make a far better judgement on TV replays, the positioning of the hands particularly. Not that I advocate its use.

They are the same as players, human beings with their own foibles & eccentricities. They tend to make far less errors than players however, despite having to make hundreds, if not thousands, of decisions every game.

| Therer's no excuse whatsoever for some of the blunders we see every week and when games are not on t.v there are 5 officials involved.
Even worse are the same officials not making the same calls from game to game or even in the same game for both teams.
A perfect example is Bentham penalising JP against the Bullls for pushing Bateman at the PTB now technically that's a pen but then he hasn't done it once and much worse cases since.
Also the grapple it gets given one minute the next it's ignored for the rest fo the game!!
Thet are F/T pro's and make the same errors week after week how can we expect them to improve if it's not picked up??

What's there to debate, that i did or didn't see it?
That i can't give exact times?
I saw it, end of, no debate needed, if it didn't happen i wouldn't have said it, i've been to hundreds of games, sometimes it happens, that day was one of them.
I don't clock watch so can't give times, next time though just in case i need to 'debate' i'll take one to the game so that i can actually have a point eh?
Neutrality doesn't validate your opinion anyway, i'm not partisan with my opinions, he was bad in equal measure.
On the Riley try, i've seen it now and no obstruction, my opinion is BJB runs across him once, this is a mele of the play and they're all on the chase but then Riley assumes that BJB is going to be the recipient of ball at some point so shadows him waiting to pounce only it never happens. Riley at fault so my opinion on that is wrong.
To Tigerade, your arrogance duly noted

So why come on to a discussion forum?

| my issue with refereeing is... what are the point of linesmen? ive only ever seen their collective being make a handful of decisions! they should be calling all these "flat" passes as forward and helping the ref keep em onside!
yet they just stand there waving their flags.... they really need to step up i feel and take an active part of the game.

| Riley "shadows" BJB?
He puts an arm out, grabs him and loses balance himself in the process.
Specsavers required, get those primrose and blue filters removed.

| In the past 7 days I've taken a chance during the good weather and a lull at work to attended (not 'seen highlights on TV, but actually been there) the Wire/Leeds game, a local Nat. Conference game, a SL under 19's game, and 2 SL U16's games, and I can safely say without any fear of contradiction by anyone else who attended those games, that the standard of refereeing in SL is higher than outside of it! .....
Some of the decisions have been so poor that, in one game, the team who had been incorrectly awarded a scrum threw the ball to the opposition and told the ref his decision was wrong! Later in the same game a player was pulled up and penalised for a deliberate trip which had prevented a try. He starting walking towards the sidelines (expecting a yellow) only for the ref to say "I'll let you off" .... To top it all, I witnessed something that, as far as I'm aware, was the worlds first 40-22 kick ...... ball kicked from inside the 40 bounced into touch way before the 20m line, and not 5 yards from the linesman (about 10 yards from where I was). Linesman stood (correctly) at about 22m out and flagged for a scrum to the defence. Ref came over, and said "I'm giving it to the attack", and moved the scrum inside the 20m mark, calling "40-20" ...... WTF!
Silverwood/Thaler et al may make mistakes but trust me, they're the best we've got!
