| Quote: FearTheVee "All very logical, but we seem to be arguing different points.
I questioned whether Bailey would be first choice at Leeds in 2010, you seem to be talking about his contribution within past and different squads (after a slight detour raging on about a James Graham tackle, Bryn Hargreaves and Paul Clough, and Maurie Fa'asavalu's nose - which I wouldn't necessarily file under "intelligent" but everyone has their own standards).'"
We've been here before.
Season after season - 'will he get a game??' 'will he get a new contract?'
blah blah blah
It's boring frankly.
What my POV is looking back at was has occured before. Facts. These highlight that he has this question asked and yet he still picks up that GF ring.
Yes Eastwood is new. It's just a different name on the same variable.
Raging on??? Really?? You can't have seen 'r lass 'going 'off on one' as that is rage in the puriest - filthiest - form.

| Quote: pmh "Oh I do like a good colloquialism, I shall endevour to shoehorn that into every conversation that I have with Ms. pmh this weekend.
As to Bailey, as an opposition fan he appears to me to offer something different to your other forwards. Good at bringing the ball out as he more often than not gets a quick ptb, mobile, niggly and hits well and often in defence.
All things a prop's supposed to have and do, the only thing I'd be tempted to change would be to start with him, he seems a lean fit lad that could get through more work than his minutes on the pitch allow and therefore use Kylie for impact.'"
not sure how much impact kylie would have as an impact sub...
think he's probably best on @ the start

| Quote: FearTheVee "I see your point re: Bailey's longevity in the past, but it isn't just a different name is it? It's a young Kiwi international. With two other pack signings made in the shape of Amor and Bibb, and another year under the belt for Burgess.
Given all that, I would say it's reasonable to ask whether he'll be in the first choice 17. Some would say it's far more reasonable an assertion than the OP's . . . .
Lucky you
Yeah the young Kiwi should keep them all on their toes (as it should!!)
But with JP and Kylie knocking on we need to keep the pack fresh and current.
And as for the Burgess remark, this was said when Scruton was here. Like I said I've been here before many times and Bailey still stands!!
As for 'lucky me' - oh I know that!!!

| i like Bailey, I think he is a decent player. He has Great defence and contributes a lot. His biggest problem though is he sometimes doesnt offer enough going forward.
He is still pretty young, probably a year or two away from his physical peak as a prop (and only 1-2 years older than FGB) yet has a wealth of experience and has played against and beat, some of the biggest names in the world
I have always wondered though whether he should have had a few years in the 2nd row before moving up to prop at about 28 like Peacock did. Maybe he could offer more around the fringes at 2nd row for a year or two before moving up

I don't think he's ever been mobile enough for 2nd row. Had a decent run out tonight I think

| Quote: FearTheVee "It proves he was picked in the packs before the signing of Eastwood and the young forwards in the off season.
My point is that in my opinion he will struggle to get in a fully fit Leeds team in 2010. What happened in different squads 2/3/4/5/6 years ago has little bearing on that.'"
1st Squad of 2010 everyone fit and available and who starts at prop???????

1230.gif “You are playing a game of football this afternoon but more than that you are playing for England, and more even than that, you are playing for right versus wrong. You will win because you have to win. Don’t forget that message from home. England expects every one of you to do his duty.”:1230.gif |

One of his best performances last year was at Hull KR, he played in a wide position there (before he got knocked out)
