And you think just because we have some dirty players, Ferres should get away with it? And no I didn't defend the flower incident before you say, I think he was lucky not to be sacked but imo nearly breaking someone's back is worse than punching someone undefenceless?, an 8 game ban he should get at least. And if a Wigan player did that they'd deserve the same'"
I didn't say that, please don't twist my words.
What i said was that, as alluded to on the Wigan board, some.of the Wigan trolls 'hope O'Loughlin, Bateman and McIlorum are playing in the return game'
Read into that what you will.
I wish Gildart a speedy recovery, and the Wigan medical team perhaps some refresher training to boot.

Like McDermott said when Singleton was banned they'll put him into a mini preseason now so I think he'll actually come back in much improved shape.'"
Bang on. Will likely come back in supreme shape after a 6 week training camp which should involve plenty of cardio and less trips to KFC

| Quote: ThePrinter "If he's been demoted because of that then I think it's very harsh when you consider what his positioning would be - he'll just be able to see the backs of the Leeds players, mostly Delaney. You watch the game back and Wigan players don't initially run in so obviously don't see much in it at normal speed and only reacted when Gildart stayed down.
But then again he failed to send a player off against Wigan so surprised he hasn't been given a 6 match ban from the Wigan Disciplinary Board as well as extra punishment for not sending Burrow off for attacking poor innocent Joel Tomkins hand with his face.'"
Most the fans on this forum speak sense, but unfortunately like most forums, there is the likes of you.
Can't accept a horrendous tackle and need to start deflecting it with what someone else has done wrong, like a fuc*ing child.
Thaler has rightly been demoted on the back of it. Firstly as for nobody running in, George Williams stood in the ruck (think it was GW anyway) started pushing as he saw his mate was hurt. Thaler then has two touch judges and the cameras to aid him with the decision.
A clear red, he bottled it, rightly punished.

Can accept the tackle but that wasn't the point I was replying to which was about Thaler's appointment this week, do we know it's solely based on him not red carding Ferres or just Wigan fans thinking it is? Like I said he's not in a good position to see it and if his decision has been aided by what the touch judges or VR have told him then wouldn't it be them that have messed up? What if the report he got from them suggested it being worthy of a yellow then what's he suppose to do?
Also watch back, George Williams goes to push and takes offence at Cuthbertson (who has fallen off the tackle at that point) almost simultaneously as Gildart hits the floor so his issue wasn't about Ferres' tackle.

I can't find any comment where the Printer says that it isn't a bad tackle. He expressed a view that the ref was harshly dealt with by being demoted after his performance on Friday, which I disagree with, he deserved demotion for not pulling the Union reject for the head high on Rob. But regardless, your reaction is a bit OTT. The tackle was a bad one, a view I think is shared by the majority of Leeds Fans and Delaney deserves what he got. But I still think it was P poor technique and not a deliberate attempt to injure Gildart. I hope Gildart makes a swift recovery and the injury is not as bad as is rumoured (where did the three broken Vertebrae info on your board come from BTW?) But you can't really expect the Rhinos board to see things in the same cherry and white hew that you do, if that offends you, my advice would be to avoid browsing on here after a contentious incident.

I put it on the third page of this thread. I got a text from someone "close" to the club yesterday. If you look at my post on the first page I did hint that it was a very serious injury.

| I'd like to think there was no intent to injure but only one person would truely know the answer to that. As crushers go it looked about as bad as it could be. IIRC Ferres also had his arm hooked around Gildart's leg pulling up increasing the compression on the upper body. I can't imagine what that would feel like but just by placing your own hand on the back of your neck and pushing forward you can get pretty uncomfortable very quickly and the forces involved here were many multiples greater.

Seriously Smokey? You're usually such a rational poster. How much worse could it be in your opinion?

I don't think Ferres out him in that position and I don't think he picked Gildart up. I think he was reckless and failed in his duty of care. I think he deserved a ban. Had he put Gildart in to that position, had he picked him had it been malicious and intentional then it should be longer.

| it was 100% deliberate - whilst Gildart did turn his body into Ferres to try and walk backwards and gain more yards, Ferres spotted the opportunity to make the tackle as uncomfortable as possible (which I'm fine with), but he then raised his own body to give him space to slump back down on him with force. Ferries knew 100% what he was doing, he intended to hurt, the game was getting spicey and he does have that bit of c*nt in him (something again I'm quite happy for anyforward in the game to have).
Problem is, he's used that 'c*nt' in him to carry out a sh*thouse tackle, and whilst I'm sure he didn't want to cause long term or serious injury, when he's caught in the moment, he will not have thought about that for a nano second, you don't when you're on the pitch and in the zone - he spotted an opportunity to cause a bit of damage and get one up and them and went for it - I doubt it was pre-meditated, the circumstances arrived and he took the opportunity. Now he has to pay the price, and 6 weeks is lucky if you ask me. As for Gildart, it's a real shame for the kid and I hope he recovers soon - we all play the game knowing and accepting the risks (including injury from foul play), I'm sure he won't be crying about it as much as some fans and will just get on with his re-hab, sh*t happens sometimes and is a part of the game.

We have someone with friends 'close to the club' here too.
We're still waiting for Talau, Vainikolo and Brierley to join.

I honestly don't think Ferres has the capacity for that. And I don't mean that in a complimentary way. He gives away 1 or 2 dumb penalties a game, makes 1 or 2 dumb offloads a game, he will make 1 or 2 just plain dumb decisions again like trying to put a kick in or throwing out a pass like he thinks he's Wally Lewis. I think if he had the awareness and wherewithal to donthat deliberately he would be a much better player than he has show so far
