| Leeds look like a strong squad to me - I expect them to finish top two.
They will miss Sinfield a lot more than Peacock - it is time for the new leaders to stand up and be counted. One thing is for sure it will not be for the lack of effort if this side doesn't win anything next season.
This should be the most intriguing season since 2004 - I for one am really looking forward to it. For me Galloway will be a good signing - not so sure about Falloon but time will tell.
Much is said about Sinfield's 40/20 against Saints but if it hadn't have been for McGuire's genius at Huddersfield things would have been very different. Nobody tries harder than Danny and no one and I include Sinfield can read a game better than him. 200+ tries tells you he is often in the right place at the right time - he has big boots to fill but he has a big skills to do it.

Never in his time has McGuire shown he is captain material. A lot depends on him next year as first choice half, having to guide the team around, another facet he has never shown he is capable of.
The last thing McGuire needs is the burden of captaincy. It is a completely wrong decision IMO from the club, and something that will effect us. Time at club, does not constitute leadership ability.'"
Who should be the captain then? - please don't say Zac or Stevie Ward?

Exactly! "A few weeks ago" !!! Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't that even further in the past than "yestreday"?
(Hope you enjoyed your beer...it's the one thing I'm missing out here. No 'proper' beers to be had.)

Very true and Sal will probably run you close to be fair but you're off to a flier with those two pearlers about McGuire & Galloway.
Hope you can keep it up for the whole season, although you usually do TBH.

Indeed! And English...and Russian (in equal measures). We have actually been to the Turkish side too dead easy now. The Greek and Turkish cypriot leaders have just done their first joint xmas address (in each others languages).....which is quite funny really in that neither religion here recognises xmas, especially on the 25th Dec. All the shops shut though of course....but no Sunday trading laws to shut shops early today. Loving it here (apart from the beer limitations )

...or Burrows
Stevie Ward for me....and Burrow more than McGuire - although he is unlikely to be a regular starter. As others have said, McGuire is a great player but he just is not captain material. He just doesn't have the calming temperament (on his self never mind the rest of the team)

| What about Ablett or JJB they are both experienced back rowers I think Ablett is one of most consistent player's in our squad and could possibly lead from the front but I do expect it to be Danny Mags

So called ethos? What on earth does that mean? The club clearly have an ethos, it's plain for all to see.
How do you know mags will view the captaincy as a burden? Over many years mags has been capable of coming up with big match winning moments. That shows a player who gets better in pressure situations, not one of crumbles under the burden.
I actually think mags has remodelled himself from support player to creator as his pace has wained and age has crept up. He is capable of moving a team around if his half back partner can take up some of the creative duties (and sutty can).
Not sure who you would prefer as you didn't say.

Both of those would be better options than McGuire. As would Ablett and Cuthbertson.
McGuire has a skill set that requires match winning gambles. Been captain will and should restrict his skill set. He does not have the settling personality that a captain needs to show, and he has a childish petulance that rubs officials up the wrong way.
A lot depends on him next year, and he should be free to deal with that IMO.

"The Golden Generation finally has its Golden Fleece! They have Wembley Cup Final winners medals to add to their collection."

| As captain you have to remember that you aren't just captain of the team for 80 mins a week. You're the captain of the club off the pitch as well week in week out and all that entails especially regarding media stuff.
Don't think Ward should get it this season. Firstly he's going to miss around half of season and also it a big ask at his age. Now before anybody mentions Sinfield's age at taking over captaincy, he wasn't taking over a golden generation like Ward would be and Ward has only had one real full season as a starter.
Hardaker, is A leader, but not THE leader in my opinion.
McGuire has had his flaws regarding his temperament but then again he wasn't the captain at the time. Many players in the past in sport has changed with captaincy. Jon Wilkin often the crybaby of Grand Finals has matured as the senior player of his club.
I seem to remember games over Catalans and Castleford away and Wigan at home early last season with Sinfield absent and McGuire leading that we won.....seemingly other people's memories only stretch back to Boxing Day. The Castleford away game in particular was arguably our most professional 80 mins of the regular season in 2015.

| We will have rethink the dynamics of the captaincy role for 2016.
We effectively had 2 captains for the last 10 years in both Sinfield and Peacock (although only one of them wore the armband) which will be an almost impossible task for one player to replicate.
Sinfield organised the the attacking/defensive structure while Peacock did a majority of the motivational stuff both verbally and using the 'follow my lead' approach. This will be as big a loss as what both these players did with ball in hand.
Expecting Mags to fill the boots of Sinny AND JP is unrealistic - we need a more holistic approach to the captains job.
