| The Wire is fantastic, the best TV show I've ever seen. I've been looking for something else to get into, what's The Shield like compared to The Wire? I remember Charlie Brooker raving about it on Screenwipe.

I'd strongly recommend the shield but its not an easy to compare to The Wire. The Shield is a roller-coaster from the very first episode to the last.
The shield is excellent at what it does and one of the best things about it is it's very skewed moral compass.
For me, The Wire is the greatest show ever for its scope, intelligence and complexity. The Shield on the other hand is one of the most enjoyable shows ever as it's relentless and really keeps you on the edge of your seat (just don't expect it to be The Wire, or you'll be massively disapointed).
The Shield also has some brilliant guest stars - Series 5 & 6 with Forrest Whitaker were the best part of the show IMHO (but as with the Wire don't try and dip in half way through).
(The good news is that the Shield DVD box sets are dirt cheap on t'internet...I think I got them for less than a tenner a piece)

| Omar is by far the best character - the scene from the courtroom in series 1 when the lawyer defending Avon suggests he is making a living out drug dealing and Omar just turns the comment back on him!!
What amazes me is the fact that both Stringer Bell and McNulty are both British

Dukes Of Hazzard would be my guess for Dubya.

| Cheers Vic Mackey, I'll buy the first series of The Shield and give it a watch.
Generation Kill is good. Short, but well worth watching if you like David Simon's approach to TV drama.

Indeed! Go-go's problem was that despite fantastic energy the songs really did all sound the same

So far this week I've watched 20 minutes of Jamie Oliver in America last night - and thats it, in total.
Some weeks I watch nothing at all.

| I was gutted when I finished season 5 of The Wire, even though it is probably the weakest of the seasons. It does wrap everything up magnificently though.
Season 2 is my favourite. Try 'Homicide' the book by Simon. It's the fore-runner to The Wire.

| How Not To Live Your Life. That's a funneh proggy.
Of the American stuff I used to watch House, got 3 seasons on doovde, but then kinda just went off it like I did chocolate. I watched quite abit of Kyle Xy aswell, until I found out what he was and stuff, then I binned that. But the key one I watch religiously is Entourage. Because it's f-cking beeeeeeeeauty!

Funny I've heard a few people say 2 was their favourite and yet, as mentioned somewhere above, it's my least favourite - probably says more about the consistency than anything else!
I'm definitely going to give the book a go.
