We need maybe 2 new forwards and that depends on how some of our younger lads develop.

Hanley & Newman would get in the Saints side but i would not swap anyone else out?
Leeds missing Walters this season massively

Exactly, we need more than two new forwards as the younger players aren't ready. Smith isn't perfect, but he is rebuilding the team and that will take time. Put Nathan Cleary at half-back and we still lose last night.

It’s not that I can’t see what he brings, and I thought he played well last week. I just don’t think he’s as good as you do.'"
You are not quite getting it are you . I am not saying how good or bad he is , i am saying what he does and in a good pack with bigger , stronger and faster players then the job he does is invaluable .
As for Saints letting him go , Bentley wanted to play for his boyhood club and was offered a great deal . Saints would have gladly kept him .

| A disappointing night - ask yourself this, if Rohan Smith was available as coach would any other SL club be willing to take him? What I can't understand is why the club is so poor at progressing players and coaches through the system. Peet came through the system at Wigan, Wellens at St Helens, we have >10 coaches at various levels and have had for many years - why have none of them emerged either at Leeds or with other clubs?

I don’t think you’re quite getting that I am not going to agree with you. Bentley is over-rated, and has too many deficiencies at this level. He’s not the only player who gets stuck in and is competitive.
I don’t think Bentley is our main problem right now as it happens. I agree he’d look better partnering a different type of back rower who offers more presence.
RS is clearly a fan of Bentley and re-signed him and prefers to start with him, but the irony seems lost on this thread.

| I fail to see what the coaching staff see in O'Connor - once again Clark had his number 10 metres out - did he not learn anything from last week. Oldeski, fans need to stop making excuses for him and open their eyes. He is not the player many on here think he is. Holroyd maybe there is an excuse with the injury but his impact reduces week on week.

| Quote: exiledrhino "Imagine being GH sat in the stands wondering how the team you’ve assembled with considerable dollar could be this bad. Apart from the intercept, we didn’t look like scoring once.
My main gripe about smiths style is it’s either ridiculously high risk that either looks brilliant or ends in a knock on, or it’s one out with players with absolutely zero aggression.
I’m sick of watching Bentley, he’s absolutely garbage, and why does Frawley have to try and throw every pass like he’s trying to launch it into space. And don’t get me started about the drop off plays, passing the pall on the inside so our centres and back towers run laterally across the line making them easy to tackle.
Ironically we’ll probably play better in better weather, but the GF is always in conditions similar to last night. No we’re out of the CC I don’t see our route to silverware this year.'"
No sympathy for GH mate. He appointed a manager with no professional coaching experience, on the cheap. What did he really expect? Smith may still come good, as he’s learning on the job. Not his fault really……

To be fair, I think the club saw Burrow as a long-term coaching option, but we know what's happened since.

No professional coaching experience, except the eight years he'd spent as a professional head coach before he was appointed, and the eight years he'd spent as a professional assistant coach before that.

"Leeds is the greatest club in Rugby League"
Alex Murphy 2011: |
|
| Quote: tad rhino "thought saints got virtually every decision from the leagues worst ref last night.
but
they were a mile's better in every department and should have won by more. we looked like a pub team in comparison'"
Agree. It was death by a thousand cuts, all the small decisions going Saints way, and Johnny Lomax once again proving what a great refs assistant he is. We aren’t a match for Saints man for man, but getting so many decisions going against us certainly doesn’t help. It’s quite obvious that some teams are favoured heavily over others, and the RFL’s disciplinary bias towards Saints, and against Leeds over the last few years, has been a sad indictment on the honesty of the governing body. Add to that the conscious bias from match officials towards certain clubs and players, and teams like Leeds are fighting an uphill battle. Lomax is a perfect example of a player constantly buzzing around officials and exerting his influence. It was beyond belief that he could get a player sent off for punching by simply telling an official he had been struck by McDonnell last season. A clear lie, and again a sad indictment on the honesty of RFL employees, this time the match officials that never saw the ghost punch yet went on the word of a favoured player.

You do relise that the forward pack you are slagging off have all been signed, or re-signed to longer deals by Smith?
At the same time, you are both....advocating Smith and his rebuild, whilst stating the players he's bringing in or re-signing for the rebuild are not good enough

Genuine question - what are all these incorrect or marginal decisions that went against Leeds given there is a narrative that every decision went against them?
As for players arms in the air - I sense a collective case of Newman-blindness.
