Quote: christopher "Yes we have more options but out of those listed only Newman is on a par or better than Hurrell IMO, whilst Im not sure he should be marquee a few other clubs might think the opposite and id be sad to see him go.'"
A lot could depend on how Newman recovers and how Broadbent plays over the coming weeks. These two could form a centre partnership for years. Offering Hurrell a 2 or 3 year deal could scupper those plans.

Jack Boradbent is only 19 and played how many first team games? he looks a real talent but suggesting he's suddenly first choice centre is a bit premature IMO, but I do agree that Him and Newman could be a long term centre partnership for us, Im not sure having no competition for places helps anyone.

I hear you but if Hurrell signs a 2/3 year contract on big money he'll play each week when fit, that leaves Sutcliffe Newman and Broadbent and possibly Hall after the other spot. Competition tion is good but you can have too many players for not enough positions.

I thought that next year was the year we made a genuine attempt at winning one of the big two trophies. Not sure we'd do that with the age and experience of a lot of our centre options without hurrell.

Hurell is on a diferent level to any of our other centres
IMO. He a player the opposition fears m worth marquee of he stays pretty healthy and keeps his weight down.....

Providing he keeps fit (which is a cause for concern) I think we should keep him. He's our only three quarter who has a legitimate claim to being near to world class. I really like both Newman & Broadbent but neither are close to Hurrell at the moment. In two years they might be, so two more years for Konnie for me. Not to bothered about the Marquee question. The club will pay him what they think he is worth.

Assuming he's in reasonable shape it's a no brainer for me. He offers an x factor that we dont get from anyone else in the entire squad. It obviously depends on the money/length of contract he wants.

I can see both pros and cons too keeping Hurrell he's a fantastic bloke to have in your team and can produce some magic if needed. However if we used Hurrell's quota spot and marquee to get someone like Taupau or another Big Overseas forward the blow of losing him would be softened massively.

Personally I don't think it's a case of losing a Hurrell to get a Taupau. Plenty of players out of contract and Prior likely to leave anyway. The trick is to bring in another top class player without losing one. That's the only way to move forward.

Newman and Broadbent could be Leeds centres for a long time; but neither are at their peak yet. Having Hurrell around would still make sense to me; if course it depends on the cost.

We also have other talented centres in the system.

It sounds like Eastmond is the 6 we have been calling for in the club’s view; Agar talking about this being a long-term signing. By that I imagine Lui will be on his way out. Prior sounds like he’s done. Even Martin keeping the options open.

I reckon we have a few irons in the fire from NRL and progress with one or two new signings might determine who we retain on the current roster too.

As the young lads are maturing we could afford to have a smaller senior squad of better quality players.

I understand that other overseas players are leaving but let's say Hurrells wage goes on Taupau for example then we have Tetevano & Taupau as our marquee. If we lose let's say Prior & Lui then there wage and spots can be used on other overseas player if we wanted to bring them in but on the flip side we could use there wages to get Taupau and have Hurrell & Tetevano as our marquee it boils down too who we have on cap and who we have parlty exempt om cap as our marquee we'd probably want our highest earning players as our 2 marquee so there's extra cap space too use on rest of squad.

Hurrell stays for me, I think Martin and Prior may also. Lui replaced by Taupau would be great business.

Id like to see Hurrell stay but i wouldnt offer Marquee money if that's a deal breaker for him so be it.
For me i can see Prior retiring & Martin going home ,id let Lui go & look to move on both Briscoes for 2021.

Hurrel is still our biggest attacking threat. Whilst that is the case I don't see a new deal not being offered

I would think to to sign Taupau we would need to used Prior or Martin plus Lui salary.Lui and Prior for Taupau would be realistic and fantastic business.
