| Absolutely not!!! If we were recruiting an overseas halfback, he'd be well below the standard if expect!
And anyway, Gus Gould has already tweeted that he'd spoke to the journalist who wrote this piece before it went to print and categorically denied it, saying it absolutely wouldn't happen, but the journalist wrote it anyway.... I'd say it's a non-starter, Gould is usually pretty upfront on things like this on Twitter.

| Not disagreeing with the majority consensus of 'no thanks', but how many on here actually rated Cuthbertson or Garbutt (or Delaney, Kylie etc) before they started playing for Leeds?

| Seeing we still have 2 greats in McGuire and burrow and young Lilley can't see much mileage in a scrum half. 2nd row a bigger need for me. Given Wallace played for Scotland in halves with brough - could Giants be interested?

This! GH gets more right than he does wrong. I'd trust his judgement

What judgement? The article links him with a move to Super League, not Leeds. Absolutely not the calibre of player we'd need to waste money on. If we're getting a halfback from Aus it needs to be a top class one. Wallace is as previously pointed out, average

Correct, but their seems to be some unwritten rule on here that if ANY NRL player becomes available people have to ask if we should get him even though in most cases the club will have zero interest in the player in question.

Not a chance to get a top class half back from Aus under normal circumstances - Carney would not here if he wasn't banned from the NRL!! There isn't enough to fill the teams in the NRL let alone SL.
We have seen the benefit of developing 2 top quality half backs from the academy - we need to work with Lilley and Sutcliffe to be the next McGuire/Burrow

Don't be daft. No top class aus halfback would come to SL. Judging by your comment you were obviously against us signing Leuluai, Garbutt, Cuthbertson, Moon and Delaney then?

I agree we need to work with Sutcliffe and Lilley. It depends on how they develop and how long McGuire and Burrow are around for as to whether we need an interim half for a year or 2 at some point. I think it's widely recognised now the benefit of having had Dunemann around whilst McGuire, Burrow and Sinfield were developing.
Though personally I think McGuire and Burrow can do that job, it's only really if Sutcliffe or Lilley don't develop as we hope.

I never said one would. IF we were sign a halfback, it would need to be one of the better ones. I also don't believe we need a half anyway, I'm quite happy working with what we have. My only concern is a goal kicker but I'm hoping Hardaker or Sutcliffe have been doing some extra training on that front.
Wasn't against any of the signings you mentioned above either, mainly because I didn't know of them til they happened. Would I have picked them from a list for Leeds to sign if I could choose? Probably not, no. Cuthbertson is the only one I'd seen play and to be honest I thought he was quite good so I wouldn't have said no to him
My post was only intended to state Wallace is not the type of player I'd want Leeds spending loads on.

I like Wallace as a player, but the guy is buggered. His knees are shot.

| I was reading the McDermott statement made on the Rhinos website about the new season and new recruits and going off this snippet at the end it does not appear he sees a half back a priority :
......'and the emergence of some very talented young players has given us some great variety and options for how we would like to attack next season. Between Rob Burrow, Danny McGuire and Liam Sutcliffe with Jordan Lilley backing them up, we have some very pivotal people who will be key for us this year."
