That’s one of the worse comments I’ve ever read on RLFANS.
Did you read anything what I wrote in the first post?

I'd guess so, hence why he's come to that conclusion. I know, why doesn't he get people to pledge money to him to?

I’ve already given Ben £10 out of my dole money and he’s already raised in the region of £400+ with the helping hands of other people in the community. It might be more now though. He’s also walked the three peaks with a bunch of other people to raise money for this work experience trip.
If he doesn’t reach the target raised by the closing date (not sure when that is) then I’m sure someone will fund the rest. I put this on here because I know we all like cake and I though it was a worth thread. I’m sure we won’t forget Brail in a while

He’s not disabled as far as I'm aware. He wants to go and work over in Brazil. It’s not like over here is brimming with employment opportunities for him or anyone at this moment in time. He’s not going to be on a beach having a holiday. I’ve worked abroad before and it was anything but glamorous.

| Not really read the full thread but from what I can gather all you need to say is something that involves the words - community work, cake and brail and people will give you enough money to go to South America.
Sounds pretty easy to me.

Not really.
Its volunteers like Ben who save the taxpayers a lot of money. Kids don’t commit crime when they in Youth centres and that’s why we’re having policing cuts. It’s much cheaper to have former police on the dole or better still - a diffrent job in the private sector.

| I can't believe he's raised as much as £400 already i'm all for the volunteer sector but come on funding a young lad to go to Brazil for "Work experience" i've been there damo and the last thing the lad will be doing is working once he hits the beaches and cheap booze and tarts.

I think you’ll find that most people are on the dole out of circumstance rather than choice. Most people on the dole would be more than happy with full time work but it just isn’t they at the moment. The jobs market is terrible and the choice for most people on the dole is zero hours with speculative pay. Whilst I could take on one of these zero hour jobs with speculative pay due to my good financial management, most people can’t. You look at this situation with a very narrow set of eyes which is very shallow considering how bad things have been getting with workfare etc.
My advice for you is don’t call someone a scrounger if you can’t improve their situation. Going by your logic you’re just as lazy as them. More than willing to call people names but not willing to give them the proper opportunity to stop been a ‘scrounger’ as you so nicely put it.

| He needs to up the ante a bit...get some decent PR and start with a snappy slogan...something along the lines of 'I need £500,000 by the end of March.'
