| The club have done the right thing there, and Wigan as a club tend to conduct themselves pretty well.
Sam Tomkins, not so much. I'd be surprised if he's even seen what the Press Officer has written for him.

| This ain't over by a long way.
Tomkins will get booed in every game he plays in this year for club or country.
I'm not condoning the booing but it's sure to happen.
Leeds fans will get the blame though, regardless of opposition

So was Lee Smith fined and made to apologise last season?

Sadly I'm afraid he will. And as for the Leeds fans bit, I didnt like the inference that this was anything to do with the booing that happened in the Exiles game, as written in this mornings League Express. The booing happened at Headingley, but there is no evidence to suggest that Leeds fans alone were responsible. I'm surprised we havent heard a response from GH already!

Why would he be banned, seeing this type of thing has happened numerous times without a ban being given?
I know this may be incredibly difficult for some but they need to look beyond the fact it was Sam Tomkins and move on.

Saints banned Kyle Eastmond for doing the same thing to his own fans. So much more should it have been a ban for a player doing it to opposition fans on TV in front of potentially millions of viewers.
Cop out by Wigan; just damage limitation in the hope that no ban will be issued by the RFL. Still think it should though because the ruling body cannot be seen to be soft.

| BOOOOOOOOOO ! ! !
I hope he gets a career-ending ban
I wonder how big the fine is , and if it will actually come out of his pocket .
As regards the booing at Headingley ..
He was booed in Leeds , so it was all of the Leeds fans that were booing him .
Can we expand that and say that he was booed in Yorkshire , therefore it was all of the Yorkshire fans that were booing him ?
Can we expand that a bit more ..I am sure you can see a pattern forming here .
Ooooo ! Poor precious little Sam .
To be honest , I think he dserves another chance . I will give him that chance if he walks to the Leeds fans next time we play them and apologises .
T&Cs of an acceptable apology are as follows :
He must kiss the badge on TMFMISL's shirt .
He must get down on his knees and beg us to forgive him .
He must serve cake to any fat lads in the crowd .
He must give Damo a job as his PA .
Then we can give him one final boo as he gets back to his feet .

Well seeing Briers did it to the Southstand during a live game and nothing happened and Myler did it to Wigan fans last season also during a live game and got a "naughty boy don't do it again" letter, as per usual you're talking poop.

I think the fact it is ST makes all the difference, the fact that he is supposed to be one of the games shining stars and is therefore at the forefront of press scrutiny, maybe he should be setting an example to kids who want to play the game with the same skill set he does rather than been the petulent annoying he seems to enjoy been.

In terms of being treated by the authorities it shouldn't, which is why nothing more than a naughty boy letter will be forthcoming.

So you don't think the RFL should be setting a marker down here then?

I don't care what you think about me or what other players have done at other times. My club issued a suspension to our player who did what your player did and so I'm coming from that POV as that was the best action. Since he returned from his suspension things have got better and better for Kyle and between the fans and Kyle. The suspension showed the fans that the club meant business. The so-called apology given by Kyle was believed by precisely nobody. I suggest that the so-called apology given by Tomkins will be believed by precisely nobody outside Wigan either.
The so-called apology and the so-called fine is a fudge and it won't work because nobody is naive enough to believe in any of it. A suspension would have given a clear signal to those outside the club that he was being duly reprimanded for behaviour which brought the sport into disrepute and then relationships could have been rebuilt after that.
