IMV the WCC like the Magic Weekend is an idea that has outlived its usefulness. Both should be binned.
Whilst we're at it move the CC back to an early season comp with the final in May/June/

First year I'm sure you'll get better coverage but after that it's massively dependent on the results which let's be realistic are only really going to be one of two scenarios

1 - Aussies go full strength and batter us and after 2/3 years of all NRL finals and SF's the coverage will drop like a stone

2 - The Aussies send their reserves and people lose interest in it because of the understrength NRL teams making the competition meaningless.

Those are the two very highly likely outcomes and both will see the competition dead in the water after 3/4 years and in scenario 1 you'll have actually done more harm than good to the SL competition.

Why can't the SL teams perhaps send a team over for the 9's tourney instead?

The Aussies are only interested playing with and amongst themselves, we all know what that makes them.

You improve by testing yourself, by exposing your weaknesses and strengthening them. You don't improve by just playing at an inferior level and hiding from the challenge.

As i said, being scared is the worst reason not to do it.

Being delusional about the harm it'll do our competition is the worst reason to do it.

Yeah playing and beating Brisbane this year really improve Warrington didn't it.

Our top teams have been playing WCC's again for almost 20 years yet our best teams are deemed nowhere near as good as there were 10-15 years ago so shows the pointlessness of your theory.

I'm also still waiting to hear how we're going to convince the NRL and it's top teams to break up its season for a month so they can come and play in this tournament. I'd love to be a fly on the wall when they got asked that......they'll just about manage to say "sod off" in between the laughing.
