Yeah, there's no way Maloney is coming over without a marquee contract. Has made comments in the past about how he likes moving clubs because he gets a new contract, likes his money. Which is fair enough.

The Maloney Marquee money topic is a bit of a red herring. We can still pay him whatever we like as long as we don't break the cap, but if he's not a nominated Marquee player then his full salary counts.

Which is precisely why no one will sign him unless it’s on the marquee allowance.

I cannot see any team, certainly not us paying him a full salary of c£300-£400k without the advantage of the Marquee allowance as to do so would be a big risk in terms of balancing your squad within the cap

But if Hurrell is on say 225k we could switch the marquee from him to Maloney?

Maloney is big mates with Merrin from Penrith/NSW days....

I’m still going with Cuthbertson, Ablett, Ferres, JJB, Golding leaving at the end of the season. Would personally keep Donaldson. Dependent on Lunts games, I wouldn’t be surprised if he stays.

Wouldn’t be surprised if McConnell also gets a squad number next season Cuthbertson going would open up an overseas quota spot, would love us to go all out and get James Maloney (would mean Myler leaving) and George Burgess (Burgess @ 8, Seumanufagai @ 17).

That could be s total of 4 to 6 players to leave which creates enough room for at least 3 quality players to come in and promote our best youth.

Cuthbertson could be a good signing for another club for a couple of years. I like the guy but his form and injury record over the last couple of years hasn’t been great, and you do wonder if we’d be better looking for some new blood. I still think we’re another first grade prop short, despite signing Ava this year. Oledski and Holroyd aren’t ready to bookend a title winning side yet, and Singleton’s been patchy. Crosby - who knows. Peteru has been alright but he lacks aggression for a prop and mobility for a back row.

I’d still be happy to see Myler replaced, he’s gone well over the last few games but I’m just not a fan overall - good bloke though.

Starting to come around to the idea of us getting another winger. We have very little cover for injury to the back three really, Would have loved Kyle Feldt to replace Hall but if we do go for someone, I’d like to see some real pace and ability.
