Hall has a buggered knee.

It's a cruel sport sometimes with injuries, but Hall is probably not the answer going forward.

T Briscoe is a good player but knees can rob players of pace as we've seen several times in recent years.

Still think we should switch Hurrell to the right and develop Newman as a strike left centre.

Another reason why we need Merrin/replacements sorting ASAP - the side cannot afford to start in the defensive disarray that we saw on our RHS defence at the start of 2019, and we need the second rows and centres in particular defending as a unit and practising their organisation.

Got to swap Newman and Hurrell, Hurrell is a far better defender on the right hand side.

I really do fancy we will have hall back at the end of the season.

Judging by the clubs site with the announcement of Prior and Merrin leaving, we have at least £175k on the cap since they wanted them both alongside. Big money when it’s a marquee spot available too.

I wouldn't have Ward in the middle, we should bring someone in.

Ward should be ahead of Mellor in backrow. Smith should be loose, his natural role. Give him the run and back him, he would be better than Knowles at Saints.

The kid has talent that’s for sure, but he needs to get fit. At no point since he joined the senior squad has he looked fit enough to me, although that might be because the coaching staff were trying to put weight on him to fit him into a different position.

If he got fit, I’d be happy to make him the bench backrower and give him a prolonged spell there to prove himself.

It’s not about starting, it’s squad numbers. Cuthbertson has had 8 for a few seasons now, Merrin would have been given 11 again next season had he stayed, so Mellor will have already been given his squad number. Highly likely a big name will come in with the £175k and marquee spot available,

Agh sorry meant to quite the previous post to yours that had put a starting 13 down . Do you really think we are going back into the marquee thing. Thought we had learnt the lesson, we absolutely dire last year with two marquee signings .....
Think both were to satiate fan pressure!
