Sorry but for him to have been convicted - and indeed for him to have pleaded guilty - he has done something he shouldn't have and he knows it and that action can not (and should not) be condoned. |

He was legally represented and pleaded guilty. You don't have any experience or, indeed, understanding of the criminal justice system do you?
The court, having heard the accepted fatcs and undoubtedly considering the relevant sentencing guidelines, has indicated custody is a possibility. As much as you don't like the situation, that is what happened...get over it. |

Pedant mode - In R v Sanchez the court found that it was necessary to show that a notional third person at the scene would have feared for his personal safety, not that the victim was put in fear. Were it otherwise, the definition of affray would be extended to include every common assault.
A common problem encountered by the CPS (2 people consent to fight, refuse to provide statements etc) remedied by charging under section 4 of the Public Order Act. |

But (and this pains me to say!) I agree with Damo on this, you weren't playing Saints so why sing about Saints? We said the same last night about the Saints fans singing songs about Leeds and Wigan, perhaps they were using it as a "choir" practise for upcoming games? I don't know but both clubs have enough of their own songs that there should be no need to sing about clubs you aren't playing.'"
