Agree I was not particularly happy with lui signing, but will hold my hands up much happier now, the main positive of the deal for me is getting tui out of the club

I don't disagree with the sentiment Tad but it's just a constant merry go round.

We wanted the club to spend money, we got two marquee signings.
We wanted a better pack, the club went out and got players (mixed bag admittedly)
We wanted better halfbacks, the club got Lui and ditched Tui (hey that rhymes).

Now it's all about the new coach. The club can only do so much at any one time.

Agar is not a poor coach, he has coached at a high level and international level for a number of years. The pool of better coaches that would want the job will be very thin indeed. Also, there is nothing wrong with being steady if you have a good squad to be steady with. The problem is we have a poor (but slowly improving) squad and an interim coach.

Ask any Hull or wakefield supporter if agar is a poor coach

Powell maybe, but that won’t be before 2020 and maybe not then either.
I like the sound of Demetriou but it would be too risky an appointment in the circumstances.
The available Aus coaches are available for a reason. I’m sure there are some technically decent ones but we need more than that to truly rebuild the club. We need a Murray or a Smith type again for me - a real solid character as well as technically good coach. Not too many of those about.

Define poor?

Wakefield have been relegation/mid table fodder for decades. Hull have been inconsistent for years. His win % at hull was 45% and Radford's is 51%, really not that much difference.

A really really top coach can have a great influence on a team but they are few and far between and none are knocking on our door.

The important part of the equation is a talented squad with some leaders thrown in. The coach is important sure, but secondary.

Apart from the 'very good' bit

I think you need a good coach to win stuff (McDermott
had a great track record here of course). But you can’t polish a poo and Wayne Bennett would struggle with some of our squad.
If we have good enough players and balance in the team, relegation should never be a danger for a club the size of Leeds.
It’s chicken and egg but in the absence of an outstanding coach candidate Leeds are doing what they can with the playing staff.
All coaches have a shelf life ultimately - great rarely lasts.

McDermott was not a great coach (in my view) but he had an incredibly talented and driven group of players. That's my point.

If you have Agar, Furner, hell even Lowe's the squad that McD had and you would still have won silverware.

Yeah, id be absolutely furious if Agar got it full time.

I have to say (and this isn't aimed specifically at matts) the level of negativity seems over the top. How's about we actually give the club a bit of support and those before we slate them.

Id hope it isnt specificaly aimed at me. Im very happy with the moves to the squad we'v made, every one of them,..watkins, lunt and lui...theres plenty of posts in various threads stating this if you botherd to look before taring people with a brush. I would not however be happy with agar as permenent coach, if you want to call that negative, good for you, your wrong, its called having an opinion...a valid one based on agars career to date.
