| I reckon that they have a big signing to be announced on Saturday at the South Stand Open Day.

If we're ditching so many players i hope we have more than 1.

| Reckon they'd have used it to promote the SS opening day if that was on the cards.

Some great games - a few - watching he didn't look motivated especially towards the end
I would agree with you its a key position and if he is going to be replaced then a quality player needs to be obtained - there are plenty out there as good as him whether they are available is another matter.

| I know the reports saying the warriors aren’t going to offer S Johnson a contract extension on his current wage (reported to be seven figures). However, struggle to see how we could afford him even on a marquee player scenario. Don’t get me wrong I would love to have him but just think it would be the biggest SL signing for a good couple of years.

If he's the highest paid player at the Warriors, I'd say it would be reckless for Leeds to sign him. We do need another marquee player (in the PACK), but money IS an object and I'd rather see a few hundred grand extra go into youth and coach development rather than one star signing who can get injured/lose form. I can live with Myler, Lolohea, McLelland, Walker for the halves and FB. I could even live with Dwyer and Johnson at hooker for a year if we sort the rest of the pack out. I'd like to see 2 genuine props and possible another 2nd row.

Agree, I’d much rather take a big strong prop if we are spending money. Are we getting Fensom? I know Furner likes him from Canberra days and he seems like a great defender and hard player who could be what we need given how fragile we could be last year

| People keep saying that Fensom is "done".. my only worry is that he could be Delaney MkII. We deffo need some starch in D though and he'd bring that. The Feldt rumours went quiet too, we are still weak on one wing with Hall going. Taupau would be great if we can pull it off, but I'm not sure if he's a 2nd row really, despite size he's most effective on the edges. We've spent years recruiting project mini-me-McDermotts; I'd rather see us move towards an Anderson/Vagana/Burgess type metre making pairing up front. We have a lot of backrowers for me but no "punch" in centre field.

| Furner has got an NRL winger (not a big name) lined up apparently.
I agree you need some forwards.

Ah that's interesting. I assume that rules out Feldt then. I really liked Scotty Donald, a similar under-the-radar type would do me. We will need a winger who can defend if he has Hurrell on the inside (prone to the odd brain fart).
It has been a LONG time since Leeds had a pack that other teams worried about.

| Our best pack in super league era was around 2007-11 i think.
With Kylie, Diskin/Buderus,Peacock,JJB,Ali and Ellis/Ablett. I hope we recruit A top class prop and second rower for this season.

Anthony Don would be good.
Alex Johnston?
Sandor Earl and Robert Jennings are out of contract.

| Jennings would be interesting outside of Hurrell. Not sure what the politics would be of Furner talking to Souths players, unless they actively wanted rid of them of course. I'd rather see us spend on the pack than the wing, but...

He's out of contract, only 23 and can cover centre too.
Got 3 in a game vs Manly last season and 4 in a game against Parra.

It was a good pack was that, and one of the reasons why we dominated that period.
I still think this pack is hard to beat though:
McDermott
Newton
Fleary
Farrell
Morley
Glanville
Agree though, I’d rather leave the wing a bit weak and strengthen the pack.
A weak winger can still be effective with a good pack. A good winger struggles with a weak pack.

Yep. As long as your winger isn't a defensive turnstile and can catch a bomb, it's the icing on the cake. Don't get me wrong, you need class across the park to win titles, but the engine room is where we're in most need.
I was a fan of Marc Glanville. Bit like Furner - just quiet, efficient quality. Tied the pack together.
Looking at the current squad, it's looking like we're replacing pretty much half of the first team. That is major surgery. Would like to hear some more, positive signing news before pre-season starts.

| One thing i am glad about is that we are looking to offload the dead wood, the likes of Ormondroyd, Walters and Mullally have no long term future with us and are just blocking a path to the first team for the juniors.if it came to it i would rather us get rid of these and fill the squad out with kids if it came to it.
Next season is just about sweeping from one era into another, may not bring success but at the very least i hope we see some good rugby and signs from furner regime and that will do me. Some good recruitment next year is vital then and another few of the old heads will move on.In 18 months the playing squad will likely look a hell of a lot different to the one that limped off the field against Toronto.exciting times

I agree with this, however how long into the season will it be until the first Furner/Sinfield out threads when we aren't beating all and sundry
I'll be happy with a decent cup run and pushing for 5th and of course some decent signings for 2020, Sinfield has said it wont be a quick fix, players that we sign may not gel may be injured etc there's alsorts of unknowns when theres a big change in staff/players, I do hope though that we can play with some structure and a bit of flair/excitment/passion

Might be controversial here, but honestly I don't think SL is so hot that Leeds couldn't get right back up there with one or two more astute signings. We should have the best centre pairing in the comp, Walker another year on, Ward hopefully fit and some very good juniors knocking on the door too. They'll get flogged in pre-season and I'd expect a very different season next year (within reason).
