| Lets see how he does in the 2013 World Cup.
Playing behind an Awesome Pack and 2 Aussie/Kiwis Halves is one thing, but I reserve my judgement for if he can transfer this to the international stage.
Then he is a Slice of Bread Boys and Girls.

In order to prevent this thread being turned into some form of schoolyard argument ("Yes he is", "No he isn't!"icon_wink.gif, we'll just have to agree to disagree.
Instead, let us agree on how good Tomkins was tonight.

I respect what Danny has done in the game but no way, even at his peak, was he as good as Tomkins is at the moment.
Mr Swiftcorn will know how much through gritted teeth an admission like that is for me.

| Funny how no one mentions baileys deliberate "head rub" on Gelling, forget the facial with the hand afterwards it was deliberate use of the head and for me....warrants a ban.

| Tomkins has a part of his game that I'd wish he'd just cut out. Petulant little fekker.
The kid has to be the best British player in the game at the moment and showed what he can do with half a yard of space. Would I swap him for our full back? In a heart beat.

| sorry to be pedantic, but I have to expel a perpetually mistaken myth - Sam Tomkins is not little, he's 5ft 11, the bigger than average sized quality rat

How cringeworthy
Whoever was responsible for the tackle (as much the thuggish McIlorum as Tomkins IMO) it was very dangerous and that's the point that's being made.

It's a thread about Tomkins, so it tends not to get mentioned. That is unless a Wigan fan pops along to shoehorn it in.
As we're on the subject, it was unacceptable and typical of our discipline on the night. OK?

| The tackle wasn't the best and i can't believe that he didn't know what he was doing.
He is however the best we have got and could be the best we've had. He is a wind up merchant big time but look at Billy Slater, he is exactly the same. Opposition fans loathe him but theres not a team who wouldn't have him. I agree with the poster who says he may struggle behind the England pack and not play as well with Brough and whoever plays 5/8 but the England pack is good, very good and as long as he can stay fit and healthy he gives us a great chance.
Quality player and outside the game i bet he isn't such a bad guy either.

| Great player. Acceleration of a gazelle, and always takes the right option. Wigan look to me a carbon copy of Queensland. Hard forwards, good kicking game, lots of bodies in motion and excellent ball movement. Then add a freakish player as a threat out the back.
Tomkins will get criminally underused for England again, because we have no structure like Wigan/the Aussies/ Queensland.

| Sam Tomkins - was once in all apparent seriousness described on this forum as a 'one trick pony.'
Said poster is also well known for his use of the word 'fe[ick[/iwit' and while I think he knows his rugby and appears a good sport it's ample evidence that no-one is infallible.
Tomkins on the night wasn't perfect - and in no way needed to be - but he is the player that lights up SL.
Enjoy it while it lasts.
