Yes he worked wonders at Wire
And as for your earlier statement of taking 6 wins out of our next 10 , after seeing the fixture list i could coach us to 5 wins out of that lot , so really the target is one out of five against decent sides because if we cant beat Hull twice , London twice and Cas at home then we are in a bigger mess than i thought

| Slight chance of topic, what are your thoughts on Mcdermott, on paper looks great and has been linked with Hull, most Hull fans including me don't want him but just can't put my finger on what?
What are your thoughts?

| I believe there's a several hundred page thread titled something like 'For the live of God, Allah or whomever, please go Brian' that summarises the views of this forum

Everything we won when he was here was inspite of him, apparently.

You're in the wrong place if you want consistency and logic.
It was probably right for him to go at the time, but again that was a result of terrible signings for years and I'm not sure how much of that was him and how much GH/budgets or whatever at the time. Really hard to say unless you were in the bubble at the time.

| What exactly is “something in the playoffs”? A victory and then getting knocked out? A battling defeat to Huddersfield? It’s so vague and far-reaching. Leeds should be aiming to win the grand final, every season. Is that realistic? Not in reality, but that should be the aspiration.
So nowhere this season and then top 4 next season, that’s your aim? That would mean it had taken Smith 3 full seasons to simply get us in the top 4. That’s absurd. Again, people are obsessed with this long, drawn out arduous transition period.
Wigan have a model of bringing through their own coaches. Saints have always been able to find the best from overseas willing to join SL. Smith is neither, he’s meh, nothingness.

| Leeds need a proven head coach. They can’t be effectively taking a punt on someone just because they got a championship side offloading and scoring a few tries, Jesus.
I’m not saying they are gettable, but Ian Watson for example. Proven at this level, and taken teams to major finals. That’s the profile of coach Leeds need.

| It's not just about results but performances that show the team is going in the right direction and that's not what we're seeing even going back to that cas win that was still a greatly flawed performance.
Smith didn't kick that miller drop out or tell him to directly, but he's absolutely set the system and ethos of this corner cuttingb/ trick plays and though I'm all for play what's in front of you rugby it's gone too far the other way (and as i was berated for saying earlier in the year) at the cost of high quality fundamentals

Sorry to say that you're spot on Flex.
The rebuild is never ending.
All the excuses are wearing thin with Smith.
He had to get rid of the dead wood.
He's replaced the entire spine.
Salary cap restrictions.
Etc, etc, etc.....
The best coaches can get the best out of what they have.
This is his third season and we are currently no better than we were under Agar.

| Despite the rejection of Hull I believe that should Smith get the push the next Leeds coach will be Paul Rowley. I think it's been on the cards since we signed Ackers and Croft. If Smith had started the year with the mildest of bangs it might of been different but unless he can muster a 2022 style run of wins fan pressure will force GH's hand. Despite the clubs increasinly tarnished status an ambitious English coach would still be a fool to turn the offer down. I would not be surprised if Rowley is at the club for 25 or even before.

I agree..no doubt Ackers and Croft had a word in his ear to let him know to hang on as the Leeds job could be available in a matter of weeks

He may not come, but it won't be because he "hates" Leeds and is from another county. He's a professional sportsman. Incidentally, you know that he "hates" Leeds how, exactly?

Load of . Rugby league isn’t lucrative enough that coaches can just be turning down big jobs like that, nor is rugby league on the level of say man United Liverpool in football where there is deep ingrained rivalry and hatred that can prevent moves like that.
I think if Leeds roll out the red carpet, he comes. If he snubs us it’ll just be the final nail in the coffin of the tarnished reputation and downfall of the club.
