| As someone rightly said on either here or the Wire board, Myler looks great when you win by 40 and scores a hat trick. When you need a half to drag you through he's not your man.

| Quote: Exeter Rhino "Wasn't Lolohea signed long before the full scale of these problems became apparent? AFAIK he was Brian Mac's replacement for Moon, a very different type of player. Like Moon, he has some good things to offer on attack, but not necessarily what we need the most in a stand-off.
If Myler could do the organising (granted, he's not shown much evidence of this yet) and Tui worked on his defence (this should be fixable at least) we'd be okay IMO. I'd also like to see a bit more running threat from Lolohea.
Myler is the weaker link IMO. He's had longer to fit into the side, is a more experienced player, but aside from a few glimpses when the team has its tails up he's not really the kind of scrum half we need.'" Myler has never shown he can be a good organising half back when i have seen him. I don't see that changing now.

Hey don`t say that Bullseye even though you are on a wind up. But I asked several months ago what does Myler offer that Lilley couldn`t give apart from him costing more on the cap.
I`m a fan of both Lilley and Golding but more knowledgeable on here don`t agree and I`m happy to concede on that.
Hastings would have been a great signing even with Lolohea alongside him.
We still need a couple of props and a sort of Sevalio type player that Hull have just signed.

Hastings would have been my first choice, though he does seem very principled and after Salford kept him going and gave him a playing start, he's paying back the loyalty.
Drinkwater wouldve been my second choice, kept a below average Catalan team ticking over and was a major steadying influence on the team.
Im not, nor have I ever been a fan of Myler, whenever we went up against Warrington you always knew our halfs were head shoulders, knees and toes better than anything he could muster, even on a good day. He's very much a luxury player a man who will score you a hatrick in a 56-4 mullering but will fade into the background when your behind the 8 ball and need him to come up with something. That being said, surely we should have realized this and tried to get him a steady hand to help out not another clone of himself.

I said at start of the season we needed a Blake Green type half back and you told me I was under estimating Lolohea.
He has never been a stand off and never will be a stand off but could be Brent Webb like at full back with his cut out passes and vision.
He will be targeted every week by opposition who will get plenty of joy every week. He's the worst defender I have ever seen and he's defending too far in field. If he's going to play 6 he needs to defend as a centre and have Watkins, when back, inside him.

Problem is Myler wasn’t crash hot in D last week and Hurrell, while devastating 1:1, easily gets pulled out of position- and then Handley. Truth is our LHS isn’t much better than our right.
I need to see more of Lolohea. He played well against Saints I thought, and OK against Trinity.
I imagine Furner is less impressed with what he’s seen in defence than even we are.

Well said. You have to question the attitude of some players. Furner has to get them ticking. I do wonder how much damage has been done with regards to a lot players being made available in off season

| I think Cuthbo's effort has probably upped since being "made available" if anything. Whilst he might not be the most effective I certainly think it's given him a kick up the back side.
Of the others that were made available, 4 have gone (Walters, Mullally, Garbutt and Ormondroyd) which leaves Parcell, Golding and Cuthbertson. Parcell has very much continued his "meh" form which you can understand given his style of play and the beatings our pack is receiving almost weekly. That said, Dwyer had made a decent go of things when on the field playing a similar style.
Golding is a bit of an unknown given he's so far down the pecking order. Was mentioned somewhere else on here but if we get another injury in the backs or if Watkins is out for a couple more weeks, I'd be tempted to throw him in on the wing and move Handley to centre. He'll certainly bring a passion and desire that isn't abundantly clear with some of our other players.

With respect having a half defending outside the centre used to be a problem that we had with Rob Burrow with many on here suggesting that it just meant that the centres were worn out with tackling and less effective on attack.
I agree completely that Lolohea is unproven as a stand-off and this was a worry for me pre-season (but I just hoped that he would prove us all wrong).
