| Yea we were, and he was interested in coming to us with his brother been here and guarenteed starting options - but the lure of Wigan compared to KR is obviously intense. I think the clubs had an agreement for tomkins to come this way and us to relinquish the greenwood interest as well - kind of you scratch our back we scratch yours situation.
Reading this thread by the way - you guys don't understand how lucky you are. I'd swap places with you in a heartbeat after spending a year last year and ten years plus prior to super league rattling around the lower leagues.
Sometimes change is needed though, and maybe the club has become stagnant. I think the sport has a little bit which is why its interesting to see what this new gaffer has to say today...........

| Quote: christopher "Ive said before I think the would have been a great signing, I believe Wigan ave had his signature for quite a while though.
If we had signed Greenwood I'm sure there would be posts stating NRL reserve grade failure though
I think like many things it depends who you believe or what is written
Some will no doubt say he was an NRL reserve grade failure whilst others say he would have been a great signing.
Same with Clark, Sam Burgess thinks he was one of the best whilst others think otherwise.
I would not have a problem with us missing out on these signings as long as we get someone with at least equal ability and skill.
The worry for me is we are no longer the team everyone wants to play for and we seem to be content with what we have or might have in 2 or 3 years time.

I do think there is a bit of a feeling in the club that we have got another really good crop of youngsters about to break through, and I have actually been a big fan of the clubs stance on wages and trusting the academy to produce players. We may not attract some players who are after the cash but we have got a good record of keeping players together for a sustained period (obviously too long for many on here

| Looks like Hetherington is not only out of touch with our own club, but seems to have been bitch slapped by the rest of Super League also.
There is no doubt Hetherington not only took Leeds forward as a club, but also the game as a whole. His ideas of practice were second to none.
His magic started to wane the moment he was the one pushing the eights concept, and the dual registration. Because of what he had done previously, he reluctantly got the backing of the game. That proved a disaster though, and his place at the top table ha# now gone. I suspect reserve teams will also quite right be be next on the list to impliment.
Just like any coach, or player, there is a time frame for staying in touch and been relevant. His stubbornness on where we are seems to be reflected in the whol3 game now.
Hopefully today’s announcements on future changes will at least improve the game. I just hope it doesn’t leave us behind as a consequence.
Edit to say just seen his statement. That is pretty embarrassing to be honest. He is going to cut off his nose to spite his face looking at that. What a dummy spit, sheer stupidity, and allowing the Lancashire teams pole position to run the game. He should have been first at the table.

His arrogance has affected us, and now the game are pushing him away. That is a shame, because he really wa# the true visionary that took us and the game forward. But he needs to have some dignity, and recognise he is wrong, and he very mush is. Those sort of statements will only distance the divide.

| Now he's been stoked up by this, I cannot wait to Read his email to season ticket holders Saturday when/if Saints smash us Friday by 40 plus
Probably tell us instead that things will be better next year as our old forwards won't be as injury prone next season and the lads will be far more comfortable playing at home as they will have 'proper' changing rooms in the new stand as the poor soles have had to go through the upheaval of not having their usual changing rooms this season, just like they struggled when not having their usual training facilities for a long period in 2016...bless 'em

Genuine question, why is he wrong?
Why does the game need another breakaway? We've been through this before with Super League Europe and it was a false dawn. Interested to know as I'm not up to date with the politics here.

There isn’t a breakaway. It is changing the concept back to what it should be. The disastrous changes pushed through by him controlling others previously do not work. The eights has been a disaster.
I hope we also go back to top six play offs.

Ok, but that's just tinkering with formats, Rugby League has done that for 100 years.
What's the Super League executive about, and what's the power grab?

To be fair I don’t think the format is Hetheringtons major beef (I could be wrong) I think its more about how its been announced

Yeah and I agree on that, which was why I said instead of the dummy spit, he should have been leading them at top of the table. Like they said though, we were the only club opposing.

| I disagree with GH on things like the 8's reserve grade & dual reg etc.
However he has been the best CEO in the Northern Hemisphere for 20yrs but why he's had this dummy spit is ridiculous imo it was a democratic vote.
I do hope we get a top5/6 Reserve grade & id love to see origin at u19 level.

| Reserve grade sounds good. The Guinness prem in union has tried similar. It's proved expensive and some reckon is teetering on collapse with all fixtures cancelled some weeks as teams struggle to send a team out. Maybe one of the more union-savvy posters can expand a bit; the game seems to be keeping schtum, judging by the absence of internet coverage it's getting.
