In Barba - Saints do have the ex factor player the pass he put in for the try was sublime his ability to ghost through for his try was awesome to watch - what a player
I watched the game from the seating in the Carniege - what a great place to watch from'"
You lost because you had no real last tackle plays or threats in the opposition 20. I reckon had myler played you'd have won. saints are going well but look vulnerable when teams front up to them as leeds did last night and Hull did in the cup
They've been lucky this season with injuries which seems to be the major dictating factor in who does well in SL these days.

| 6 reguler games left, 7 super 8’s. Play like that and get just 2-3 players back reckon we can win 11/13 games that could put us back in contention. And challenge cup, final “hold your nerve”

| Really enjoyed the game. Thought Garbutt, yet again, was absolutely brilliant, English qualified soon??? Hall, Cuthbertson Parcell and Briscoe great aswel.
Walters looked like an amature playing pro rugby, very poor. Suttcliffe isnt and never will be a half back. I thought he done some good things last night, but they were all things you would look for in a backrower. To me that looks his best position, its also the position the squad is severely lacking some young atheletic players, seems common sense to play him there, epecially looking to the makeup of next years squad.

| Agree pretty much with what has already been said.
Whilst it is right to applaud the pass Barba made we are overlooking how skillful Richardson is not only to hold his nerve to kick the two from the touchline but his switching of play to put Percival in.
My only other comment is on Suttcliffe who we have tried as half back, full back, centre and loose forward and he has failed in all those positions. Had he not come through the ranks do you think we would have got rid by now?
I actually think back row could be his best position if he is brave enough. Failing that and if he puts on another 20 kg we could try him at prop.

| Dont think suttcliffes failed at , he played well there through the end of last season, when he got a few consecutive games there, then he got the 4 shirt and barley played there this season through injury to himself ahd covering for others. I like him at but think we need him more in the second row going forward.

Exactly, why is others not seeing this. We played like that because of players missing. It is not a case of bodies back and we improve. That was our top level last night. Just missed the game management side only.

Stats from the game. The stats confirmed what most have said already. Parcel, Garbutt, Hall, Curhbertson-immense.
Our young guys have a lot of work to do on their defence.
Sutcliffe with only 9 carries, that seems shocking for a player playing 80 minutes in the halves.

I think we (Saints) have looked “vulnerable” in the two games because we have come up against teams who have for one reason or another played us in a gear higher than they have all year. Saints only really found that gear in the semi last year vs Cas, but teams weren’t really gunning for us in the same way.
Leeds (and Hull) played with a clear backs to the wall game plan with extra nothing to lose mentality (or everything to lose in Hulls case) and looked good for the freedom it brought. Throw in a lot more of the injured players and you start to lose some of that. Not saying more players back wouldn’t be better but I don’t think it’s as cut and dry (see Cas vs Warrington).
One thing we are missing is Walmsley as we just couldn’t match Leeds’ size last night.

No. What is odd is to say we would play like that, and improve with a Delaney, JJB, Keinhorst, Lilley, Singleton, Goulding, and Ablett in there.
If you look at my posts I have already said exactly the same as you on Watkins, Ward, and Myler, with out the sillyness you have in assuming Watkins would fill both centre spots. But people are more referring to the first group of missing, players whom are slower.

I think that's a bit harsh on Sutcliffe, having only just come back from injury, and being moved back to a position he's never looked comfortable in. Maybe he was told to pass to Moon and others rather than go himself? Still not sure what his best position is but I'd rather have him in the back-row than Walters at the moment, who was flapping in the first half.
I also thought Mullally went well, winning a penalty at the PTB and going close to getting a try at close range. I'm happy for him to be a regular part of our rotation.

Or I'm saying Watkins to one centre spot and Sutcliffe back to his centre spot with Myler at half
I dont think its odd to say Singleton, JJB or Ablett would improve the team over Ormondroyd and Walters, given that we have seen time and time again what they can do in big games and playoffs.
Just because you dont rate Keinhorst doesnt mean he wouldnt have been an improvement over Newman yesterday who was getting suck in on defence and missed 8 tackles

Exactly right on Sutcliffe, being passed from pillar to post at the minute due to injuries so not his fault imo.
I dont think its coincidence that we looked most dangerous with Cuthbo at 13 alongside two other props - McDermott clearly wants this i think but injuries have prevented it from happening too many times this season
