| I hope that Jack stays as he is a fantastic prospect and he could be a future super star, but ATM he is a 17 year old kid that is only starting his career
Maybe he should remember how Brooke Broughton,Micky Learmonth and Morgan Smith's careers have panned out since leaving on big money contracts and probably on false promises too from that particular club who have a record of being vultures circling junior talent at other clubs and offering silly money in the hope that they get a super star down the line
If he goes the MEH and good luck to the kid as IMO we've plenty more talented kids coming through the academy who would love to wear the shirt that their childhood heroes wore with distinction despite starting at the back of the pecking order

| Ironic that the the ultimate club professional, Mr Burrow, who was asked to play where and when he didnt like or agree with, did so to the teams advantage, has announced his retirement.

| It seems likely all they've done is shown him just how wrong he is to believe the club would back down to his demands if he stuck to them. Which I assume is what his agent's been telling him. Well they haven't.

| I am shocked, yet somehow not surprised at how gullible and somewhat simple Leeds fans do get. Have an opinion by all means on a player, but what there is no doubt on here is how a thoroughly unprofessional club we have become. To put out an announcement public that boils down to nothing more than bullying a player for having the cheek to consider his options. Never thought we would stoop that low as a club. Seriously was there any need at all for the club to announce anything?

| Quote: Cherry_Warrior "I can understand the anger and disappointment from the Leeds fans but i think some of you are being rather unfair on him. He is being labelled as immature etc but i think he has shown maturity and wants the best for his own career. If he wants to be a full back but Brian McD has said 'no i want you to play at 6' i am not surprised he doesn't like it. The decision might come back and bite him but it might not. If the lad wants to be a professional rugby league player as a full back who are anybody to tell him other wise. It's like putting a goalkeeper up front as a striker. The lad has trained all his life to be a full back and if thats what he wants to do then i think he should be allowed to follow his dream. All speculation of course but the Leeds board have spat their dummy out here and hung him out to dry. It's a bit petulant to be honest. He isn't even old enough to vote yet and is being bullied by multi millionaire businessmen through the internet. Let the lad follow his dream, good on him for being headstrong enough not to be bullied.'" ]
Cherry, you make some fair points, but I doubt he is being bullied. His statement seems to reflect some maturity to me and he certainly appears to know his own mind. But he can not seriously have expected to dictate to any club what position he would play. So for mine this is either naivety, or a ploy to bring negotiations to an end. I'll be sorry to see him leave if that's the way it goes, but I'd ask you this question. If he was a Wigan youngster, what would position would you want your club to adopt if faced with his negotiating position?

It does seem an unusual way for our club to have handled it. GH normally likes to keep things in house.
He must have [ireally[/i cheesed them off.

GH is doing his job, if walker left with no explanation there would be plenty on here who would blame him and the club for not paying enough.
Is it correct that he is off contract at the end of the year? If so then I dont see this as considering his options and more him saying he wants to leave.
To demand what position you will play is ridiculous, especially given the majority of players in SL and NRL play a different position than they did at 17, if GH accepted these terms he would be totally undermining the coaching staff.

| The only loser here is Leeds Rhinos. To allow your best talent to leave is mind blowingly bonkers.
No serious employer ever loses an really talented employee - to allow them to leave to a competitor is very poor business.
If the offer is what I have been told - I have no idea if it correct - was true then its an insult. Especially when you have already set a precident with offer made to Cameron Smith. Walker is on a different planet to Smith.
I appreciate the club want to dictate to these what they must do - but if that is your attitude don't cry foul if a young kid calls your bluff.
This whole episode shows how far backwards the club has gone and why allowing the culture McDermott wants the club to adopt will end in tears. Bullying is a terrible human emotion - shame the club and supporters value this so highly
Sinfield left has nothing to do with the club, Peacock left has nothing to do with the club, McGuire is leaving to have nothing to do with the club. How can that be a positive?

You're so hypocritical it's laughable.
You complain about the club making this public, mate nobody has done more for the last few months than you to leak the exact details of the meetings between the club and player on here to the point that people already knew the stuff that was mentioned today.
And the lad has had plenty of time now seriously to consider his options. Like they said the club has to move forward and they need to put a line under this and move on and aren't people on here always saying the club should be open and tell them what's going on?
Aren't the club allowed to put their side of the story across or do they just have to let internet posters throw them under the bus with stories and rumours that slag them off?
If Warrington weren't in the middle 8'd would he still be considering his options.
No one player is bigger than the club.

| One more thing about throwing under the bus and being unfair on players.
The person I feel sorry for here is Ash Golding. He's done absolutely nothing wrong, he's come in had a decent debut year as a starting FB (after biding his time for a year or two and playing wing btw), he's a good professional, got himself a good deal and he's getting loads of abuse for "being in Walker's way" which he actually isn't if Walker was prepared to fight for the shirt.
People what if Walker is reading these comments....what if Golding is or doesn't it matter because people have a newer shinier toy they want to play with?
That's the worst stick anybody is getting out of this, a lad who whilst has struggled in attack has worked his balls off for the team this year.

| For me the talks were protracting far too long and I can understand the club's position..they needed to know who will be in the squad for next season as then they can determine who needs to be recruited.
Having read the article a number of times seems abundantly clear he wants the FB position but only have to look at recent history . BJB left because he wanted FB position was promised it by Salford..only played a couple of times in that position...left for Wakey were was told yes you can be FB..not sure who changed his mind but now settled ..he doing well as try stats show...So Walker would do well to note that.
As other said Burrow was proud to play for THE TEAM...for the club he loved..that is the Rhinos ethos...Other thing is Walker has not ruled out playing for club..it states he keeping option open.. That though not good enough..your heart must be for the club...you cannot have doubt...neither do I want Leeds to be second best. He has exceptional talent but he is not bigger than the club. Cut the ties early he won't be missed..we have other prospects coming through.

Let me guess! Hardaker (who acts like a teen on twitter) and others with the same agent?
