I'd prefer to see him quit so he doesn't play for anyone else, but huge respect to McGuire for leaving at a time which is probably best for the club, if not himself.
His tryscoring record as a halfback is simply phenomenal - 4th in our all-time list - and includes a number of vital and spectacular efforts. My favourite was probably against the Bulldogs in the 2005 WCC. Just breathtaking speed and self confidence.

This is a "re-print" of something I once posted but as Danny was pivotal I thinks it's worth another look.
In 2003 we had been going to more and more matches and this is the moment when I realised I was absolutely hooked and from 2004 have been a season ticket holder.

Watch from 7:49. When Dunneman put the kick through for Danny to chase the South Stand around me went absolutely nuts and the noise and excitement was just amazing. (Watching it back though I can't believe Kev missed the kick!) |

So only JJB and Burrow left now of the golden generation (a don't really include Ablett and Hall, despite their achievements due to age) plus the south stand going, it's been building for a couple of years but this really is the end of an era (and hopefully the start of a new one) |

3 passes from Danny that I love.
a) GF 2012. Long range to hit Ablett in a two on two situation, leading to Ryan Hall's decisive try
b) GF 2015 Long range to Briscoe, setting up his own try
c) Play offs 2011 @ Warrington, his amazing over the shoulder one handed pass to Ryan Hall whilst Atkins is making the tackle.
His accuracy of passing in such situations is fantastic.

I think Danny would have stayed another year if asked so this begs the question who do GH/BMcD have pencilled in for the 6/7 shirts next year. Its either Myler/Lilley, Myler/Sutcliffe or Myler/Moon.
I think next time B.McD does an interview he needs to be put on the spot and asked instead of the nauseous post/pre game questions he currently gets.

Two plays really stand off for me - there was a run in the second half of a game at Hull it was 0-0 at half time even Tony Smith looked in complete awe of the move. A try at Warrington in 2004 I think it was a very hot Sunday afternoon where he picked the ball up on Leeds' 30 and beat 5/6 people to score as the saying goes "If you are ever in a jam"

maybe not my favorite moment overall, but i did love it in the challenge cup final when he completely showed luke dorn up for what he was, a back packing, journey man, show pony, flat track bully aussie chancer. the look on his face when Danny our jumped him for his second the second try.
