| Quote: nantwichexile "Hypothetical. He could have equally come on and scored a try to give more breathing space. Silly argument.
How many subs would have to go unused for [iyou[/i to consider it folly?
I wonder if the RL reduced the number of subs to three if McDermott would still prefer - and often choose - to go one less'"
We get it, you don't like the unused sub and on other occasions it's not been wise to do so....:but beating that drum when it was clearly a smart decision to leave the pivots unchanged is stubbornness. Even if Falloon came on for a forward he is still by nature a pivot and could've disrupted the other pivots.

Your arguments do appear to have been agenda driven against our coach over the years apart from when you flip flop to say you were wrong every time we have won the various cups and your rugby management ideas appear to be taken from the painting by numbers school or should I say say air fix instructions (boys version)

If a consistent view not affected by the actual fortuitous actual outcome is 'stubborn' then I plead guilty. ...
"By nature" it seems some people are McDermott acolytes and can see him do no wrong

We can't all be 'experts' I guess....just laymen who sometime care to express an opinion without really caring too much about the level of seriousness or importance. Otherwise we would be doing the job professionally and becoming the renowned best ever coach we might proclaim to be.

So even though we win it doesn't matter in terms of the unused sub, it was fortuitous.
Yet when we've lost with the unused sub it's proof that it doesn't work.
Hmmm, hypocrisy.

Consistency is what I said. Again let me reiterate whatever the outcome I consider it folly not to fully utilise your full given complement of 17 players. It's asking for trouble and the smile from lady luck will not always be benevolently bestowed on your overworked forwards.
I'm sure you will have another retort: I will allow you the last word

Take your pick. Mullally a few times looked liked he was struggling to move his feet in defence. Ablett was heavily fatigued by the end having done the full 80. Achurch was either struggling (or hiding) towards the end of his spell.

Were any of the Hull forwards struggling at the same time?It seems Mc D has a quarter of the bench for strategic injuries rather than respite interchanges. For me the issue is with having a couple of half backs to exploit that fatigue. Not many teams seem to buy into the Sutcliffe show and go when he has not the pace to take advantage of that half gap.

Most players are fatigued by the end of a game to some extent. Given Hull had two props and two second rows on their bench I'd be surprised if they were to the same degree though.

We had 39 more carries though so did around 6 sets less defending.

| I don't think I'll ever decode McDermott's thinking behind the unused sub. Over the years it's been numerous different positions - foward, back, halfback, and it's occurred in different types of games.
Nothing will ever beat the peak of it though. When we would have well over 30 years old kylie and JP doing 75 mins in a forward orientated, lung busting game with a cameo 5 minute appearence from keinhorst/walters/any squad player WITH an unused sub after that, effectively playing the game 2 men down.
Then losing by 2 points.
God bless Brian Mcdermott.

| Quote: Andy Gilder "Frankly, the twice he ran in the opposite direction rather than tackle Pritchard should signal the end of his time in a Leeds shirt. I'd rather have a young kid on the field who is prepared to throw his body on the line rather than a shirker who runs away from getting involved.
'" I saw that. Isn't Achurch in business with Kirke? I'm sure they strip to the waist and compare muscles, whilst oiling each other up.
I don't like saying this about anyone who laces up a pair of boots but Achurch displayed traits of cowardice Friday.
He's a big girls blouse and it's a crime he gets a shirt ahead of Baldwinson or any kid who who could have a real dig.
