Based on nothing more than a preseason game he looked to have great potential in the centre.

| I watched some of the 2012 GF today. If you can't recall check out the size of Watkins & Hardaker. If Ash bulks like they have he will be tough to stop.

It ain't what you takin', it's who you takin' from, ya feel me? How you expect to run with the wolves come night when you spend all day sparring with the puppies?:41106.jpg |

| Quote: ThePrinter "I agree and I think its to do with having a certain affinity for academy lads. If Briscoe had come through our academy and we shunted him out of the first team in favour of signing BJB from another SL team they'd be a lot more disapproving voices then the scenario that did happen.
I've heard quite a bit about how Briscoe fell away and didn't perform well in the 2nd half of the season in 2014 and this is held against him, whilst that is true about his showings.....none of our first choice players really covered themselves in glory in that 2nd half either. I think only Ablett maintained a good level of consistency throughout the year.'"
Spot on. Briscoe is, and always has been, both a better player than BJB and a better prospect (he's actually younger!!).
It reminds me of Senior. As a high profile signing half the southstand were on his back for the first 18m of him being at Leeds. And I shan't even mention the number of people on here who used to preach how JP was a SR who would never make it as a prop

He will. Although to me he bears more of a physical resemblance to BJB. Who didn't.

| Thought Handley did well last night. Was left facing 2 or 3 attackers a few times but did exactly the right thing and got in the way.
Also looked good with the ball.
Thought Keinhorst did well too.

Thought he was poor handling that high kick for the try, but then again I thought Watkins made a bigger mess of the other one for the drop out I think. So I don't think it was down to experience, but I do think he should have done better.

Maybe a little harsh on Handley for that although, i see where you are coming from and he probably should have knocked it dead, but great take from their wing for the try. Most things he did and indeed has done since coming in though, have been of a high standard and he has performed far and away above what most would have expected .He has reason to be very pleased with the start he has made to first team football

| Wing is a position where you will be exposed and individually singled out and tested.
Ash put in another good performance. More ticks than crosses.

This week: Four keys to a Rhinos win in the WCC:Transparent Backgrounds/Waldorf.gif |

| The McGillivray try was a carbon copy of ones you see every week.
The defender is stationary under the high ball, the attacker has run on him and gets slightly higher. It's a well placed kick matched with a well timed run. To lay any of the blame at Handley's door completely ignores the fact there was nothing much else he could have done to improve his chances.
Sometimes you have time to take a couple of steps back then come forward again and jump. I don't think on this occasion that he did.

I think you might need to watch it again Andy. There is a few points flawed there.
He wasn't stationary for a start, he actually jumped for the ball. The scorer didn't jump higher, he was behind Handley and caught the ball after Handley had touched it. The issue was Handley misjudged it, was too far forward, and proceeded to tip the ball in the air backwards to McGillvray.
You are spot on with your last sentence, and on that this is where he could have done something more to improve his chances. You are also correct to say it was a well placed kick, but one where had Handley positioned himself correct he would have taken all day long.
