| Quote: craigizzard "I've seen a lot of talk about Magic Weekend last year being some great Wigan performance. But it wasn't really. Leeds were pretty poor, had a couple of tries narrowly disallowed, Sinfield's kicking boots weren't on, it was 3 tries to 3, and for all the hype about Wigan's injuries Leeds were missing Watkins, Briscoe, Burrow, Aiton and JJB and were plaing Chris Clarkson at hooker.'"
This is all true, but I think that psychologically Wigan dealt a massive blow to Leeds in that game, even though we only lost narrowly and had a few key names out. Our league form certainly wasn't maintained afterwards in any consistent way, and our cup performances became focused on a more negative style of game plan of grinding out wins.

| Interesting to hear Wane say that Ben Flower comes straight back into his side when he's available, despite it still being three weeks away.
There's a ringing endorsement to the current Wigan front row and a cracking piece of man management by Wane.
"Doesn't matter how you do in the next three weeks fellas. You could all have stormers, but one of you is going to have to give way to the bloke who cost you a SL winner's ring and hasn't played since."

One of our most disappointing performances of 2014 for me. There was only one way Wigan were going to approach that game given their circumstances and they did precisely that. We should have beaten them as comprehensively as we did last week but for some reason our players seemed shocked when wigan played with the aggression they did. I usually go fairly easy on McDermott but that was one game for which the players seemed criminally underprepared.

Other side of the coin, it stops the 'will he / wont he' speculation. Add in Wigans form of late, will any stormers be expected.

Oh I see my answer must not have been correct?
If not can you tell me the exact incident where he got the black eyes please?
Genuine question.
If it was a deliberate headshot the wigan player should banned and i would have no complaint with that.

Other way of looking at it. Wigan forwards read/hear that and think they don't want to be the one who loses their spot in the 17 and up their game over the next few games. Like Wane said, if the team had been performing then he wouldn't bring Flower back straight away without match practise. If his forwards perform really well in the next 4 games I reckon he'll change his mind.

Whatever happened to that Hull fan that claimed that back in the mid 90's at Don Valley Stadium, Around 200 Leeds fans assaulted him and his 3 mates in the stands. He was fun to have around......as were most Hull fans just after Adam Pearson took over and he was going to lead them glory whilst making GH his personal b*tch.......that's worked out well for them hasn't it.

You insinuated that he got the black eyes via foul play all I have asked is how he got them and I'm posting obscenities?
The thread how dirty are wigan and you expect no reaction?
If a player has deliberately attacked another player then he should always be sent off.
All I'm trying to do is suggest some balance or give the evidence.
I know I can be a sarcastic so and so but I would never defend any player for violent play

| Quote: DHM "Every chance he gets he'll put a forearm into a grounded players face. He's a hard, tough and uncompromising player who makes sure you know it when he tackles you. In his early days he made many dentists very wealthy.
I have no real problem with the aggresive tactics Wigan use, I started watching the game in the early eighties where physically intimidating the opposition was as fundamental as passing and running. The problem is that referees are ill equiped these days to deal with it. They don't sort it out themselves and they don't allow other teams to sort it out properly. There are some players in your team who if playing in another era would simply have been knocked out on the pitch with little or no consequence. Widnes played the intimidation card to it's ultimate and other teams dealt with it. I saw Roy Dickinson lay out Les Gorley, who was stretchered off the pitch, and all the ref did was wave a finger at Roy. There was nobody more worthy of being knocked out than Les Gorley and the ref knew that. The sight of Paul Cullen being chased around Wilderspool by an enraged Eric Grothe still makes me smile.
Refs are trying to keep a game going, they know Wigan are using these tactics but can't penalise everything and RL is still a physical game, but it's only one half of the coin. If you allow these tactics to go unpunished then you should allow the appropriate response to go unpunished also. But that doesn't happen.'"
Darren Turner was another sly cheap shot merchant until Tony Kemp sorted him out - Kemp got 6 matches - it was on Sky unfortunately - and never played for Leeds again. Turner had it coming and fully deserved what he got.
That is all that is required - if you let the likes of O'Loughlin/Westwood continue without retaliation they will just continue. The problem Leeds have they don't have an enforcer who can sort things out.

I don't disagree, I just don't believe you are allowed to sort things out anymore. Goading retaliation seems to be the tactic - the player retaliating is generally the one who cops the consequences - penalty/card/ban etc.

Perhaps if every time O'Loughlin was tackled he got an elbow in the face he might think twice about doing the same back. Same with Westwood he hits high regularly and is often late in on the tackle - the one on Green in the GF is typical of how he conducts himself. Again perhaps if he knew if he continued he was going to get plenty of the same then he might clean his act up
