| I hope it works out for Salford. As their fans have said without Koukash putting up the cash the club would be in the gutter. I expected them to make the play offs comfortably this season but it hasnt worked out that way at all.bringing Harris in though does now seem to be having an effect so i hope he gets the time needed to shape a squad capable of mixing it at the top, Its what the game needs.I suppose the big question is will Koukash have the required patience to see the job through for the several years it will probably take?

I think that last sentence sums up most people's concerns about the good Dr.
I recall when Salford were a top team in the era of Watkins, Fielding et al & would welcome them returning to such glory days - just behind the Rhinos of course. Time was when a visit to the Willows on a Sunday afternoon was one of the best away days of the season. Provided you found your car undamaged at the end of the match.

| I really don’t think that there is much animosity towards Salford fans in general and I certainly don’t think that many of us are jealous of Kashcow – we have our own significantly wealthy backer thank you.
It’s just the way the ‘Good Doctor’ has come into RL from nowhere and started shouting his mouth off, trying to dictate how the sport should be run just because he has a healthy bank balance. He’s acting like a spoilt child, getting all prissy when things aren’t going his way.
The way he has treated Noble kinda indicates his short-termist expectations, he’s put a shed load of cash in and wants something out… now and he’ll p[sizei[/sizess and moan about it until he gets his way.
This is why, IMO, he’ll not be around for the long term.

Quote: Charlie Sierra "Really? I must have missed that. Do you have a cite or two?
Why?'"
It seems a bit hypocritical to criticise Koukash for looking make a splash by spending the cash when that is exactly what we did.
Hetherington said: "We proposed this a few years ago and didn't get the support of enough clubs. But it's been brought up again by Marwan, and there are people at other clubs like Simon Moran at Warrington and Ken Davy at Huddersfield who have the private income to spend more than they are currently allowed without jeopardising the stability of their clubs

| Good luck to him and Salford. For the good of the game I hope he can make them competitive and keep them there - because, for the good of the game, we've been crying out for it (a good quality competition) for years. I'm not privvy to what's going on behind the scenes but I hope he's putting plans in place to produce his own top class talent. There's nothing wrong with someone coming into a club and getting the best players he can, but I'm sure their fans would appreciate 'their own' coming through just as much.

He's publically stated that the academy is next of his list of things to sort out, but before we can do that we need a competitive first team that youngsters want to play in. The Academy side of things is a long term project that will take years to build up. Our academy report was pretty embarrassing when it was published the other week, but: Evalds, Jordan Walne, Adam Walne , Theo Farges and Jason Walton (was in our academy before he went to Batley) have all played a big part this season, plus we have Gaz Owen a promising young hooker on loan at Sheffield along with Will Hope and Marc Sneyd has been going great guns at Cas.
All in all that’s not too bad considering we had to almost scrap the academy and drop down a league at the start of last season due to financial difficulties, despite finishing 2nd (I think) in the 2012 super league.
Add to that we have brought in young players from the Championship and lower super clubs: Greg Johnson (from Batley), Josh Griffin (From Batley), Mason Caton-Brown (from London) during the season proves that he is building for the future.
Plus we have also produced Stefan Ratchford and Jordan Turner as well as countless players knocking around the Championship (not too bad considering we don't produce any players)

All sounds promising - and you didn't mention Alker. I used to love watching him play.

| I like Koukash, RL needs investors like him to be a success in the UK. The Leeds model isn't going to be sustainable everywhere (or anywhere outside of Leeds, in the UK). He may have some unfashionable views but it is ultimately up to the current establishment to make a continued case for structures like the salary cap rather than suppressing people who disagree. So long as the debate is healthy it doesn't harm the game, hopefully we will see some tweaks to a system that (while benign) does not work perfectly.
I find it a little embarrassing for RL that he is referred to as the 'good doctor', as if having a PhD is somehow unusual for people outside of academia. It's almost as if the RL media and fans are stunned that anyone with an educated background would associate themselves with the sport. Cosmopolitan, wealthy & educated types will surely help improve the game's image by being involved with clubs like Salford.

Yup.
I find it embarrassing when people call him Kockrash and Kashcow too. I like to think petty name calling should be left to the children and not supposedly grown adults.

| Rich benefactors bankrolling a club seems to be the model for success these days......
As always with these debates i wonder how different people's opinions on here would be if the boot was on the other foot.

Nope. Nor is it by chance.
I posted something a few weeks ago after I spoke to one of Salford's newest acquisitions. In Manchester Salford struggle for any kind of media attention and part of the Doctors remit is to ensure they are spoken and written about regularly. He's certainly doing a good job of that.

| I find it amazing that people are happy with him attempting to get the RFL to pass schemes to fast track his success. And it's personal success he wants. He doesn't give a monkeys about Rugby League. It's just another Rich Boy Project. He won't do anything for this Sport.

He's certainly done a lot more for this sport than you will ever do.
