Not mine. His eye has been off the ball since 2009.
But recruitment might be done by GH, but I don't believe for one minute he told McDermott he couldn't have an hooker and use Burrow there. Nor do I believe that he told McDermott which players to keep selecting in the first team.

GH is not bulletproof and carries some accountability, however..
You think GH doesn't talk to his Coach about player contracts in the first instance and what the squad needs to look like?
GH does the negotiation of Contracts foe new and existing and balances the books, FFS you'll be telling us that GH picks the team, runs the training, and works on the game plan next!!

That would be as ludicrous as suggesting that McDermott is primarily responsible for recruitment and retention decisions. Thank goodness nobody is doing that, eh?

| We as supporters do not know what the cash position of the club really is - we don't know what restriction the owner places on GH in terms of available funds. It is obvious Leeds do not pay top dollar for players and have never been close to breaking the salary cap. For a club with the the second highest turnover in the comp this is baffling or just good business?
With such a marginal business it will interesting to see how the accounts stack up with no participation in either of the major finals this year. Last year the Rhinos made 650k on 11m this attendances have been similar to last year but the SL prize monies will be reduced as will the none from the CC - a significant earner according to GH.

Smith did make it, and had a group of excellent winning players that continued to keep winning for another coach after him, still before McDermott arrived at the club.'"
I seem to recall McDermott arrived at Leeds at the same time as Smith. He had previously joined him as assistant coach at Hudderfield and played a major role in helping them get promotion. He then came to Leeds with Smith as his assistant coach and again played an important role in creating our Championship winning ethos which slightly stalled when he left for London. "Not a lot of people seem to know that"

Everybody know it. Are you saying James Lowes was instrumental in McDermotts two titles as well then? Of course you are, as soon as he goes it falls apart for McDermott. Does this show again he's not up to it on his own?

We’re only interested in those in the bubble. Anyone who wants to come in the bubble, you can come in.
But you’ve got to keep believing.:86.jpg |

| Quote: Sal Paradise " For a club with the the second highest turnover in the comp this is baffling or just good business?'" Is there some high-revenue club out there that no-one has ever reported? Leeds blow every single other club in the league away on turnover.
The idea that the club is persistently significantly below the cap is also one I do not particularly subscribe to. A little, maybe, to ensure flexibility. But not much.

Maybe incorrectly but I thought Wigan's turnover was higher than Leeds?
As for under the cap - the degree to which the club is under cap you have no more idea than anyone else on here so your view like everyone else's is pure conjecture. GH states every year there is room for a mid season quality signing if they became available - none has emerged since 2004 - you read into that what you will. If the insult that was offered to Baldwinson - supposedly higher than most youngsters - it makes you wonder about the salary structure at Leeds.

| Knee-jerk reactions aren't really a surprise.
Entirely predictable Quote: William Eve "2 - How will the season be judged if we don't win it?'"
Depends how far Leeds travel. If they are beaten in the Grand Final, many will be disappointed and judge it as a poor season overall but remain confident that the team will hit back next year. If they don't make the Grand Final? That'll be fun, Cue the masses of "For the LIVE OF GOD..." type knee-jerk reactions!'"
