| At the moment carvell, Morley and Monaghan are a combined age 99, but on the 13th of may that will raise to 101 combined age.
I should have more to do on a Saturday evening

| Quote: craigizzard "Don't have their exact ages, but the Grayshon/Ward/Dickinson front row of the mid-80s must have pretty close.'"
That combination never actually started a game together at Leeds - indeed all three never appeared in a game-day fifteen together either. They only shared one season at Headingley (1985/6), Dickinson and Ward would never pull on the Leeds shirt again and Grayshon was also gone soon after as he followed Peter Fox out of the exit before Christmas '86.
The Grayshon/Ward Leeds front row was usually completed by a youthful Brendan Hill or Roy Powell or a mid to late twenties Keith Rayne.
The early part of the '86/7 season did throw up another possibility when Grayshon (37) was paired up with Trevor Skerrett (33) but I imagine Bob Morris (age?) may have let their collective credentials down.
____
This reminds me that I have a Leeds SL Era game by game age spreadsheet (inspired by what I believed to be an erroneous Leeds CEO claim from around 2006) think I'll give it a dust off, bring it up to date, fill in the missing blanks and see if I can come up with a definitive range on the combined ages of the Leeds starting front rows.

| SL Era:
Leeds' youngest starting front row selection - 4th August 1996, Leeds 18 - 56 Bradford
Nick Fozzard 19, Paddy Handley 20, Barrie McDermott 24 - combined age 63.95
Leeds' oldest starting front row selection - 3rd May 2013, Bradford 22 - 42 Leeds
Kylie Leuluai 35, Rob Burrow 30, Jamie Peacock 35 - combined age 101.08
Of course as long as the current front row continue they will inevitably break their own record week after week.
(To this point only one other Leeds starting front row has broken the 101 year mark and they did it only once - in the 2011 Grand Final - Leuluai, Buderus, Peacock were all 33 and change with the collective change edging the total to 101.01)

Morris was 25, if the Sydney Morning Herald is to be trusted, which (David Hard?) it probably isn't.

Thanks for that.
I'm too lazy/busy (*delete as applicable) to spend half a day rooting through scrapbooks and programmes to confirm but I'd have guessed him being around there give or take a year or two closer to thirty. Morris must have had a tough paper round as a kid.

No comment. Just reporting on the ages of the players nominally selected in those positions on the teamsheet.

| nominally is prob correct
of the scrums in a game how many does he actually pack down as hooker, how many @ loose forward or back @ scrum half?
If either of our hookers had to strike for the ball could they reach it?

| Ah, the great Bob Morris/Peter Smith combination. I had tried to blank that from memory given that those two were just about the worst imports ever. In an era where most clubs managed to sign quite decent 'no name' forwards from Australia, Leeds managed to find two who were completely useless.

Bumped into those two in the, now long closed, Cherry Tree pub on Dolly Lane,Leeds 9 Friendly enough guys, but as you say completely useless ! Also with them was Mark McGaw who was far from useless !

| Peter Smith and Bob Morris both made exactly ten appearances for Leeds so will have each qualified (just) for one of those unique number thingies that Leeds briefly dabbled with a season or three ago.
'Sparkles' McGaw appeared to be a happy accident as his initial arrival was portrayed as him coming over to keep his mate company. His mate was a good player also and was entirely responsible for the better half suddenly becoming an avid rugby watcher for all of about five minutes.

Stand to be corrected, but didn't McGaw go on to play Origin? Sign of a not too shabby player
