Leeds Rhinos? 8 for you, Leeds Rhinos! You go, Leeds Rhinos. And none for Castleford Tigers. Bye!:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_1140.jpg

If only there was some reason for the reigning Super League and World Club champions to be so arrogant.......

Quote: loinertillidie "I think , if true, that that would be an exceptionally short sighted view.

Why would a hooker want to go back to Huddersfiled with no real prospect of development other than playing more minutes, when the alternative is to understudy Burrow in the short term knowing he will eventually move into the driving seat, whilst learning from not only in James Lowes, an experienced hooker, but also from some of the best players SL has ever seen, integrating into a team that will without doubt develop him beyond anything Huddersfield could hope to?'"

Why do you think he'd believe he'd move into the driving seat here? He's Burrow's backup, with our coaching staff showing a clear preference for Burrow.

Conversely, perhaps the new coach at Huddersfield has told Lunt he's his first choice hooker and he wants him to play 80 minutes a week.

If your job is a full time rugby player, and you aren't playing much, what are you?

"He's the best coach I've had... His mix of man-management and his game plan is second to none. Since Brian Mac has been in charge, we've been in every final so far. I love playing for him. I can't praise him enough, I've so much respect for him and I hope he's here for a very long time." Kevin Sinfield 29/9/12:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_68506.jpg

Don`t forget we got the double over you lot this last season, it was only Leeds hitting a purple patch at the end of the season that did it for you. You were no great shakes through most of the season.

Did you think the same of Mo Farah in the ten k? Sat in the pack for ninety five percent of the race, maneuvered into position then outsprinted everyone to the line.

more like 5. Burrow still has many miles on the clock. I couldn't see someone waiting 2+ years for someone to step aside.

Someone who still has a lot of developing to do and much to learn? It's not about waiting it's about forcing your way in surely?

I guess doing the double over the champions is a great feeling? Unfortunately we never get the chance these days.

I wish my team would get my hopes up every season, then fail spectacularly when the going gets tough. Really I do.

Wasn't Lunt ahead of Burrow in the England pecking order for hooker last season?

Would you like to trade your 2 wins over the reigning champions for a big shiny trophy and a place in the record books?

As has already been mentioned, it's a marathon not a sprint - There's no prize for being first out of the blocks.

That's not what you originally said though is it? You said he'd eventually move into the driving seat. He may be able to force his way in, but at 25 I would say he needs to be playing more minutes than he's likely to be offered at Leeds. And whilst all players continue to learn and improve over their career, I would say that at 25 he should be near enough at his prime. He can't afford to wait to get minutes under his belt.

I agree he could pick up a lot from the way things are done at Leeds, and particularly from the experience of Lowes, but I think you need to play games to significantly improve

FWIW, he may still end up as understudy at Hudds, and that would be a bad step backwards. If I was going to be an understudy, I'd prefer it to be at the champions with the players they have, than the giants, with their mid-season meltdown mentality

OTOH, there's a reasonable chance he'll get half a season. If he starts the season as second choice hooker he'll be promoted when Hudds' drops out and vice versa. Maybe he's literally a glass half full type of player.

Obviously Sinfield decided Lunt might get ideas above his station next season if on equal full employed status. icon_biggrin.gif

McShane will get his WCC match until Lunt is loaned again.
